I appreciate them at least moving forward and attaching themselves to new things. They probably don't even feel as strongly about the material as they once did.
Plus it seems like they gravitate towards source material that allows for as much creative liberties as possible. Haruhi is the worst example of that since it's source has it's world and characters already figured out, as opposed to something like Hibike which is literally "a girl joins and band and stuff happens". KyoAni seems to prefer filling in the blanks now.
