Aquarius isn't being instantly returned to Lucy, just here to give exposition. Having a fanatic of Layla's be the real culprit was fitting.
So, Layla died and Zoldeo lashed out, but was still decent enough to hold his end of he bargain and NOT murder Brandish, but then also went back on his end of the bargain Layla (the deal about giving Capricorn to Lucy) and decided to fuse with Capricorn and become a member of Grimoire Heart.
And Anna was a Heartfilia. I think we called that one. So 400 years ago Anna, Zeref and the Dragons had a keikaku to stop Acnologia (which seems to going terribly).
But also 400 years ago, Marde Geer and the Celestial Spirit King had a battle. Dafuq happened there?
