Speaking of the OVA, at first I didn't see it when everyone said that Kumiko seemed cold since she wasn't treated as the main character. But after looking at an ep with her internal monologues and other main character attention cut, she really does seem distant. She really does do a lot of watching and thinking. Not that I dislike her for that.

she's listed as series director on the website, and from what I've read she had a greater creative influence over the show, Ishihara took more of a supervising role a la Shinbo; if she doesn't return for season two I imagine it still won't be him doing it
I wonder if we'll get some new blood in the director's chair, that'd be pretty cool. Kyoani has a number of good directors who've yet to see the limelight imo
