How is A Certain Magical Index even comparable to A Certain Scientific Railgun?
ACMI has awful pacing, cliché characters, saves any meaningful characterisation until episode 7 onwards, leaving us with bland boring characters for the beginning.
While ACSR opens with interesting characters, quickly develops them and their relationships throughout leaving us interested when action does take place.
I just don't know how they fucked up Index so bad, the first 6 episodes are so fucking terrible. They do all this big emotional shit without us really knowing even the main character yet.
So my question is how did one show end up so good right of the bat while the other is boring as fuck, despite being made by the same studio?
Is it a problem with the source material of index being worse or did they just fuck up the show itself?

Railgun was cute espers doing cute things with maybe 5 minutes every other episode where things actually happen. The anime original arc at the end was made of pure crystallized shit.

Kuroko's absurdly over the top shenanigans were entertaining enough to get me more invested in Railgun initially.
