I never watch a series for the side girls.
The fact that the main girls were all big girls was a pretty clear indication for me, as a smaller girl fan to stay away from it.
Once again, lack of variety killed the show, even if they tried to make up for it with some background-breadcrumbs.

The thing you seem to not have realized yet, is that no one and everyone is the main cast.
In the fist couple episodes, a small group is established as main characters, but after their time to shine is over some side characters and characters you've never seen before become the new mains.
And while there are side characters that never become mains, by the end the cast is pretty varied. And no one ever disappears, they're still there as background characters or even supporting ones.
