I'm pretty sure they've been able to do this for years already. Most publishers just look the other way because they see dojinshi for what they are: free advertising.

Not to say that the TPP and TTIP won't be disgusting. OP's post was just fear mongering in the wrong direction.
>>
>>135924420
Wasn't TPP something about lawyers being able to sue for copyright infringement without the need for consent from the IP holders?

TPP is much MUCH bigger than that, but yes, it gives IP holders the right to do pretty much anything they want.
For a not so related exemple, this dude from a phama cartel managed to sue canada over 1b obamas using early TPP bs.

The TPP is full of horrible shit including incentives for ISPs to "in good faith" outright block access to sites based on perceived copyright infringement. But yes, it also involves being able to sue someone without owning the IP rights.

>>135924480
What I meant was he was implying that the TPP was the thing that allowed this. Dojinshi have been a grey area for a long time, mostly because the rights holders just turn a blind eye.

>>

>>
>>135924592
>What I meant was he was implying that the TPP was the thing that allowed this.
Its not about allowing. Its about enforcing, right now the IP owners can say "Don't do X" and then don't fucking bother to enforce it. But with TPP if they say "Don't do X" and then don't enforce it, then they loose the right to say "Don't do X". Eg. if they let doujins fly, they loose all IP rights used in those doujins.

If you take out all the western and 3DPD, I wonder just how much space is taken up on their drives?

Shit, If it means the master collection that is panda is going to go down, I wouldn't mind shelling out some cash right now to get a copy of their drives for future use.
>>

>>
>>135924723

>>
>>135924019

Anime studios won't touch Doujin artists or cosplayers. It'll be the likes of Nintendo and Square Enix throwing around the C&D threat letters.

Fan sub groups should be fine too, until a series gets picked up. But don't studios usually look to pirates to gauge interest as to whether or not spend the money localizing a series? It's more a symbiotic relationship than a parasitic one
>>
>>135924760
>I wouldn't have thought businesses would want
Depends on what kind of business. The ones pushing TPP have more than enough money to do their own advertisments and make their own merchandise. So anyone else doing it would be damaging.

Its the small ones who are hurt by TPP.

Businesses just want more money. Research has shown that data mining and tailoring highly specific advertising to the individual, along with milking/promoting brands, is the best way to make money.

Why is Force Awakens the highest grossing movie of all time? It success is really all about the Star Wars brand that has been built up over 16 years (not 30, sixteen).

I'm sure most corporations would want Anonymous dead. We not only not buy what they want, we try to actively sabotage their efforts at making money for our own amusement.

> On 5 October 2015 Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper expected "signatures on the finalized text and deal early in the new year, and ratification over the next two years."[12] A version of the text of the treaty "Subject to Legal Review (...) for Accuracy, Clarity and Consistency"[13] was made public on 5 November 2015, the same day President Obama notified Congress that he intends to sign it.[14]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Pacific_Partnership

I'm assuming it won't go into action immediately. I'm also fairly certain it hasn't even been signed by Canada yet, so our only hope literally relies on the god damn canucks. It flew past both the House and Senate though, so there's no way the U.S. will overturn it.

Those panels can force taxpayers to write huge checks to big corporations — with no appeals. Workers, environmentalists, and human rights advocates don’t get that special right.

They fight tooth and nail against illegal sport streams and they still haven't done jackshit, any time a stream goes down 2 more appear. And this is with sports, much more relevant and popular than anime.
So stop panicking, even if they tried as hard as they do for sports, the anime fanbase in the west has a much better infrastructure and organization than illegal sport streaming.

Proof: The day that the Senate was voting on TPP Fast Track, the only two boards that actually bothered to watch the livestream were /a/ and /pol/. And the /pol/ thread was fucking dead.

Yes, a thread about politics on the ANIME AND MANGA board managed to reach bump limit whereas the /pol/ thread was completely ignored so they could shitpost about x feminist celebrity and y jewish movie director instead. Fucking pathetic.

It's the exact same thing as the piracy movement. I wouldn't watch anime anyways if I couldn't get it easily. These people aren't losing money.

Do you know why lobbyists try and get these laws put into place? Because human society as it stands favours sociopaths who talk big and who are willing to do immoral things. They're people who desire power, and they're corrupt from the moment they touch it. These people are egotistical, narcissistic, and uneducated (because they just had to talk big to get where they were).

End result? They're fucking idiots, so they don't know that what they're doing won't help, and even if they did know, they're too proud and self-centered to care. They want control, not people having free will.

What you linked is nothing new.
Since the internets commercial inception people have always tried to control content.
Countries have outright banned certain sites, content, etc.
However the failure in this ideology is that the internet as a whole is not controllable.
We have and will always find a way to bypass standards set by other companies.
It's the same process that created the first hackers/crackers and the response technicians who than were forced to create more complicated integrity and security protocols.
The hack/crack side evolved and now we see the future of warfare. A never ending battle for information.

Granted nothing we are talking about is potentially life threatening as other data could be. It doesn't change the fact there will always be a way. Even if it's scanners using forums and blog sites such as the one we are currently on or Tumblr to mass distribute.
Eventually they will be forced to comply to industry standard, however because of the Big 3 (Confidentiality, Integrity, Accessibility) the user fan base will be hurt as you can not have accessibility or confidentiality with too much integrity. Vice versa too much integrity to us the user will limit Confidentiality and Accessibility as governments try to limit us the user.
We will than leave said sites and stop using them, effectively shutting them down as millions of people leave their domains due to lack of being able to openly express themselves.
We will create new domains where our belief system is shared and those will be the ones that are viewed by our community.
So the battle continues on and on.
Now excuse me while I fuck this cactus.

I'm not too familiar with sport streams but there are a bunch of fundamental differences.

I assume that you're talking about livestreaming sports, in that case of course it's harder to crack down on. But what this thread is discussing is the massive archival of anime that takes place on the big 3 anime trackers. Literally hundreds of TBs get transferred over them every day, which is many many times more than whatever sports stream you're talking about. Furthermore, it has the additional problem of being available 24/7/365 to a large number of people.

Anime streaming sites are out of the question as a means of archival. All of these sites compress the filesize of video files to lessen the enormous burden of streaming on the server.

This thread was never really about anime streaming in the first place.

>not building your own network
>not using other peoples network
>not using other mediums in general
You're very short sighted Anon.
There is always a way, the only way that a an ISP can completely eliminate the signal is to turn the signal off completely at the hub.
As long there is a single wifi connection or port open, as long as a single customer exist.
There will be someone using the connection.
It's no different than the guy who goes to, I don't know Starbucks and uses their free wifi to upload a movie onto a torrenting application or inverted downloading.
The Big 3 never changes, if the ISP does not allow enough user accessibility to the customer no one will use their product.
If the ISP allows too much accessibility the government will come and shut it down.
The corporations will not allow that to happen, therefore the connection still exist somewhere and that means there will be people using our information medium to break the law.
It's been this way since man first created technology in any form.
From the first humans to write (and therefore forge documents) to now.
If any system was 100% criminal proof we would have no crime.
Don't get me wrong I don't want to sound like I'm blowing you off, I get there possibly could be less crime much like if you remove all guns or blades from a country a noticeable decrease will happen, but it does still exist.

He wants to impose tariffs. Buyfags would suffer the worst immediate effects since the cost of importing would increase and would also become harder to find imports as businesses stop bothering to sell to the US due to the shrinking market.

I doubt the loss of the US market would have a major impact on the production of anime, but it would be enough that we might see a slight downscaling in the number of shows per season.

To be honest that's what we need right now. TPP and shit like it is incredibly damaging to developed local markets which run well on their own with minimal or only very specific outside input. The US is a post-industrial nation which still has a very large industrial capacity and could stand to be a bit more independent. It would help too with diplomacy if we didn't have to rely so much on others. Just look how desperate the Saudis got when we started fracking large-scale in the Dakotas. Gas is now hovering around $1.75 a gallon.
