There is quite a bit of stuff that has yet to air ... we really, really should wait another week before gauging the whole season.
However already from what we've got, if even half these shows keep up how they are so far this season will be really good.. not ground-breaking or game-changing with a breakout hit, but much better than I thought it would turn out, especially since Osomatsu and Utaware (with shit finally getting real) will buffer it no matter what. '15 had many sequels to god tier shows, but despite that, the lack of fresh blood from new unfamiliar series left it feeling very routine and stifled for spring/summer/fall, and this season already has reversed that.
Showa genroku, dagashi and erased were enjoyable to me so far, and Pandora is my current AOTS (only narrowly edges out Sekkou Boys), but I have high hopes for Dimension W so let's see how that pans out. I've also really liked every short I've seen so far and the remaining ones to air seem even better (namely Ooyasan wa Shishunki).

Also, the limbo monsters were very well done and that scene had a great rhythm going. So far, though, it seems like your standard battle harem affair with Kyoani dressing.

You don't really need to understand Japanese humor so well, it's not like the episodes are all difficult rakugo. I laughed quite a bit during those sequences and I have a shallow understanding of the culture. Whatever the interests the manga author had, the humor, direction and character interaction in this show is great and it hasn't really felt gay so far.
