On the topic of AOTY, has /a/ ever agreed on an anime of the decade? If so, what was it?
Of course I'm talking about between 2000 -2010, this decade is not over yet.
No it isn't. People shit on Evangelion constantly and the threads are utter cancer. Bebop is a classic anime that is well liked universally and doesn't have rabid fanbases hating each other discussing which waifu is better.
When I think of 90s, Bebop is that representation of that hands down no contest.
Die in a fire, Bebop was mediocre at best, a set of stories that were somewhat entertaining and had quality OST and animation to accompany those stories, but besides that, it's literally nothing.
Well, it's not a masterpiece, but it definitely encompasses a lot of modern anime elements, such as fanservice, being somewhat pretentious and interpreting pseudo-psychology, more direct references for comic relief, by all means Monogatari isn't great, but it's a great epitome of all modern anime.
I disagree. Eva defines the 90s, while Bebop's episodic nature only serves to elevate it, and not much more. Something like Utena, while not as popular, has lasting influences on anime reaching far further than Bebop. It's simply not revolutionary enough to have made an impact, good as a show it is.
>People shit on Evangelion constantly
I believe that most of it is bait, though.
>and the threads are utter cancer.
This is true.
NGE and EoE are much more influential works than Cowboy Bebop.
>it's a great epitome of all modern anime.
Yep go back to reddit with your meme kid and don't ever come back, adults are discussing cartoons and we don't need your autism to stink up the joint.
When I think of "anime of the decade" I think of the best anime in the entire decade period. Fuck influence and purely on that Bebop is hands down the better show and this is coming from a guy who rewatched the anime 3 times and EoE twice.
>Eva culture is cancer
The fact you say this just goes to show how little you appreciate or even understand the influence Eva has had on anime and its fandom. 20 years after its release, and discussions not influences by outright circlejerk can still sustain. That's not cancer, that's persistent care and opinion, something seasonal tripe can never compare to.
It isn't the anime of the decade anon, you need to let it go. Stamping your feet and furiously typing like that won't get you anymore.
Okay. But Dragon Ball Z is a cultural icon in ways that no other series posted here will ever be. /a/ may not care for it, but the rest of the world says otherwise.
Definitely the best girls of the decade
Keeping typing away until you don't want to kek.
ARIA for 2000's, Non Non Biyori for 2010's. Officially and objectively.
The answer will always be Gintama
That said it's pretty disheartening how there are never any Gintama threads
After much consideration, I'd pick K-On. The seeds were sown by the likes of Azumanga Daioh but the whole CGDCT really took off because of K-On. It came in late though so there's probably a better choice from the early to mid 2000's.
real-talk i thought the people saying k-on were just shitposting. i enjoyed it a ton, but by no means a master piece. i mean, half the characters were living stereotypes, yui especially.
also, >le retard cute gril learns guitar in 2 weeks xD
