Is there any anime where a fat guy is the MC?
How is obesitty rates among japs? Usually I only see fat people on hentais, and they are all creepy losers.
Kon sure liked the fat middle-aged man + young woman duo.
I hate nips. If a character is even 20 pounds overweight, they're depicted as disgusting, clumsy blobs.
Look at Daru from Steins;Gate. He's 5'8", 220 pounds. Overweight? Sure. But they draw him as though there is no shirt on Earth can fit him.
Hurts my fat little feelings
It's just because fat people are still a rarity in Japan, like how black people in anime still always have big nigger lips.
Plus the Japanese have no sense of tact, people in Japan will just straight up call you fat, but they won't necessarily mean it in an insulting way, just like stating a fact.
Though they'll probably be chanting "fatty fatty fat fat" inside their head
>Hurts my fat little feelings
Then lose weight and you wont get shit for being fat.
Or find a genki girl waifu, meditate on a tulpa and start running with her.
> 5'8", 220 pounds
He's obese, clapburger.
Almost 1/3 of Americans are obese now. Japan's obesity is at 5% On top of that 3/4 of America can now be considered overweight, where as 1/4 of Japan is overweight.
>tfw you're a minority in America
>That fucking Rei
If 1/3 are obese, then why dont I see that many fat people? I think it's an overestimate. Atleast depending on your view of obese. WHen I think obese, I think mobility scooters.
Our perception is skewed, a lot of people are obese but think they're just overweight.
BMI isnt the best though due to muscle under fat. Allthough yes, you can usually see when someone is muscular or not. But I know bodybuilders who would prop up the "obese" statistics, when they arent obese.
But yeah, I am higher than I expected. I will work on that, I have been anyway. I always gain weight after Christmas.
>Atleast depending on your view of obese.
Obesity isn't a matter of opinion, it's a condition with pretty a strict definition.
>WHen I think obese, I think mobility scooters.
This is part of the problem. A lot of people think obese is morbidly obese "I can't walk on my own". Obesity is a much wider range than the one those people encompass.
Fuck off with muh muscle shit lardboy. You have to be ridiculously /fit/ to be termed obese and have a low body fat %. You're just making excuses for being more of a fat fuck than you thought.
I didnt make that excuse for myself retard.
It was to challenge the statistic that 1/3Americans are obese, becuase the BMI style is flawed.
Stop projecting, I dont make excuses for personal failings.
You're not looking hard enough. Too many people are obese and many more are overweight. As >>135863970 said.
Also don't start with the "i'm a body builder with high bmi". That excuse only applies to a tiny non-significant percentage in the overall data.
Body builders make up less than 1% of the population. So it won't be a "challenge" to the statistics at all. At the very best, you'll change the 33% to 32% and once again, thats at the very best statistical model where all body builders have a high BMI that puts them in the obese category by accident.
Well, it's no secret gooks are pretty rude.
They probably have the worst table manners out of any race. I love Asian food, but I can't stand hearing mongoloids slurping their soup/food.
Bone mass rarely varies more than 10 percent or so among population of a given height. So no, not many save for a couple of mutants are "big boned".
Perhaps you are overstimating the visibility of said abs?
Somewhere along the lines of sub 12% body fat you could begin to see some shape, given that there is enough muscle.
It's a cultural thing.
In asia people very openly mock and ridicule people for being out of the norm and there is absolutely no stigma whatsoever against calling people fat and teasing them for it.
Even in very formal settings like an office or job it's perfectly okay to poke and make fun of fat people, and the it's the fat person's fault if they take it poorly. It's pretty great.
It isn't considered rude or asshole behavior at all though. It's like if you point out a food crumb or weird clothes on someone's face in the west, it's like you are helping this person.
All fun and games until the Beta Uprising happens and you end up trying to push your own entrails back into your stomach while that autistic smelly kid blows out Stacy's brains in front of you
...But I doubt that happens in Japan, the individual just commits sudoku there
Here's a guy who's 5'8 220
A little big, but not too bad
if this looks obese to you, you live in a country of skeletons
I guess it depends on the situation.
Kidding around is fine if you know someone, but just calling someone fat without ever interacting is just rude. It's not really helping them.
Japs are a pretty beta culture, they hate conflict and avoid it at all costs. It's why old men were allowed to finger-fuck school girls on bullet trains for so long.
I think Western society needs to lighten up, but there's no excuse for being rude for no reason.
>It's like if you point out a food crumb or weird clothes on someone's face in the west, it's like you are helping this person.
It's still considered fucking rude. In Europe at least.
Dude. 5'8" 220 is OBESE
Just not morbidly obese like the poor saps that have to drag their giant selves on scooters because their legs finally gave up.
People that big used to be freak shows, now they're common place in the US, it's sad.
Who /skinnyboyz/ here?
>but just calling someone fat without ever interacting is just rude
If fatties don't meet their problems they won't do anything about it, I have the obligation to lead people to face reality saying them fat, pig or potato bag.
It also makes me happy to help them
Used to be skinny as fuck, 5'11", 160 lbs. Never had any fucking energy to do a damn thing. I've been gaining weight gradually over the last three years, up to 190 now. Feeling pretty good, decent endurance now. Not sure if that's normal, but pretty sure being underweight wasn't good for me. Anyone else had something like that happen?
>why dont I see that many fat people?
Depends on where you live, there are a lot of fat/obese in the south whereas the east and west coastlines have some skinny to skinnyfat people left.
I'm 5'8", 145lb, yes I sometimes lack energy but only if I don't do any fucking exercise. It is entirely a matter of exercise. I've been up to 170lb before and it was fucking terrible, like living life behind a layer of butter. I also lost it almost immediately when I stopped eating fast food for every single meal. I'm pretty sure "Energy" is entirely a consequence of how effective your cardio regime is + how well fed you are at that exact moment. Gonna sleep for the next 8 hours? Then you don't need energy, you don't need to eat.
Good. Fat people deserve no sympathy.
>not getting /fit/ for your waifu
Since when laziness is a good trait.
I lived in south California during high school in LA, and there were plenty of overweight/obese people (including me, of course).
When I started college I had to move to North California, and most people were /fit/ which gave me the confidence to exercise.
One of the many Waifu that gave me the power to continue!
Man oh man, this thread is just saturated with piss angry europoors getting fuckin mad that some people are above 140lbs, all to distract from their own fleshless skeleton bodies.
Forgot to mention, doesn't matter where you get those calories from. If you want to eat junk you can and will still drop weight.
>inb4 tumblr tier fatasses say the " certain foods store as fat and are processed different" meme
Japan is among the people with what is considered the perfect ratio of lean muscle and body fat.
They have an abundant supply of polyunsaturated fat from fish and complex carbohydrates/sugars from rice.
Even if they were to eat at the rate of the average obese person in another country, they would only come out as overweight at most.
Anyone who followed the diet and ate at the calorie intake of a sub overweight male would naturally look leaner simply because of this.
You can't store calories and fat that don't exist in your meal and Jap diets don't have a lot of either.
Opposed to UK or U.S.A diet which has a 10% polyunsaturated fat 20% monounsaturated fat and 40% monosaturated and 30% polysaturated fat level. Mixed with way too much simple sugar/carbs.
You can lose weight simply by switching to a traditional Japanese diet and keeping the exact same amount of calories.
I would love to switch to a Japanese diet. The Japs fucking know quite well how to make some god damn good food. Literally my number one reason for wanting to visit someday - it outweighs all other incentives by a landslide.
You do not have visible abs until sub 15% body fat.
Abs do not become defined until sub 12% body fat.
The only factors that can change this are.
>having a big butt or breast due to genetics (usually applies to women, some men do apply for the butt).
>having unusual muscle density because of a niche sport or activity
Hikers or Sprinters will naturally have bigger calf muscles due to the nature of their activity.
So while they may be stick build waist up, their legs could be huge and therefore add to the overweight factor.
Think reverse did you skip leg day meme.
>5kcal isn't 5000 american calories, it's only 5
Calories are measured by the metric system.
5k calories is 5,000 calories.
This is universal in every country.
Even the U.S. that does not use the metric system uses this for it's calories because it has to with the vast amount of importing of different foods (and exporting also).
I lived on the U.S. base for about a year.
loved every minute of it.
however foods tend to get quite boring, another factor in this... they eat very strictly.
You don't have a lot of choices (though anime makes it seem like you do) and quickly you can lead to snacking.
If you stick to their foods you might not lose weight, but you'll tend to be living a healthier life.
Only negatives that have been seen is a lack of diverse fruit. This is usually substituted by different types of tea since they are also antioxidant rich.
Wasn't saying I ate that much. Although I probably did eat close to 4k on a regular basis. Fast food + lots of junk and snacking will get you there pretty easy. I still eat fast food, I just fit it into my daily max.
You know, I actually considered writing something about how it could be confusing using "k" to abbreviate thousand when talking about calories since "kcal" is a thing.
But then I thought "Nah. I won't sidetrack this thread with pointless, stupid, autistic, pedantry that completely and wrongly misses the point." and I didn't.
Okay... but that, how you think you look, is utterly irrelevant to this.
The caloric difference between a medium-range healthy weight and the absolute lowest point of obesity is goddamn MASSIVE.
It is not a low bar.
I WAS going to let this thread die but I simply couldn't knowing how wrong you are.
I don't know hat you mean exactly by "caloric difference" or "goddamn MASSIVE", but these are the BMR and TDEE of someone my height who is normal (180), obese (240), and fuck it, even morbidly obese (320).
If the difference in any of these numbers is what you would call MASSIVE, then I don't know what to tell you.
You don't need to eat 20 pizzas a day to become obese.
