Anyone notice how many Shakugan no Shana characters are named after Christian demons?
What's the reason for this?
>What's the reason for this?
What's the reason for your name?
Because Shana is THE chuuni LN. Its success is partially to blame for the amount of fantasy LNs we have today.
Shana was earlier than FSN. Chuuni has nothing to do with VNs per se. As the word it was born outside of any otaku media.
And if you seriously think names like 炎髪灼眼の討ち手 aren't chuuni then I don't know what to say.
Shana theme song power rankings
JOINT > triangle = Hishoku no Sora = Serment > being > Light My Fire = Koubou = Akai Namida = Portamento > Yoake Umare Kuru Shoujo = ONE > All in Good Time = Tenjou wo Kakeru Monotachi > I'll believe = u/n > sense > Aka no Seijaku > BLAZE > Prophecy > Sociometry
Anyone who thinks that any Shana OP is shit has shit taste and should have their ears checked.
Problem is it came out shortly after the LN ended. How can they adapt material which hasn't been made yet? Besides, Shana S was released in-between Second and Final so they did try to keep interest in the franchise alive.
They waited for LN to end. The last volume still had pretty big sales, so I'd say the interest was still there.
The last LN volume came out when anime was airing not after. They do this often, see: Toradora, Oreimo, Ro-kyu-bu, Shana. It's not like they keep the plot secret from each other as they work on the franchise together.
Yeah but my point was it can't be helped that they could only release the anime then given that the LN was only to end at around that time too. What are they supposed to do then, make an anime-original ending?
>What are they supposed to do then, make an anime-original ending?
Well to be fair, they kinda did that at the end of season 1.
If I recall correctly Shana never activated the "Summon Alastor into the world"-spell that supposedly would kill her in the LNs
What happened in the LN with Yuji and Snake? I doubt their "contract" just occurred suddenly at Christmas like in the anime.
IIRC Yuuji has been conversing with Snake pretty early on.
Yuuji's ruthless side was also shown during the Wilhemina debut.
Snake Yuuji foreshadowing was cut because studio fucked up by turning Yuuji into more generic harem lead.
I don't remember there's any god in Shana, just very powerful Kings and some of them decide to help the humans, because their denizens won't stop poaching and start endangering the environment.
>This didn't make it in
J.C what the fuck.
Somehow Shana still manages to be one of my favourite anime, though. Partially because I discovered it on my own, with no recommendations or anything - I'd never heard of it before I saw a volume of the manga in a shop one day, went home and looked it up, and loved the sound of it.
It's good stuff.
You were nothing but a walking plot point
Kinda the same, I watched arriba gate a loved kurisu from where o found tsunderes were a thing. Then watched the greatest love story ever told, moved to zero no tsukaima, needed more Rie and just picked up Shana.
I love tsunderes and specially tsundeRies
I prefer Shana, but holy fuck I was so scared they'd kill off Yoshida in S3. When Akai Namida started playing I started crying.
I love this series so much, and that includes all the characters.
RIP Khamsin ;___;
I honestly wished they had the balls to kill her though. Felt like a copout, like they always do.
On an unrelated note, what was the spell Lamies' collected Torches for? I remember reading it at some point but I can't remember. I don't think they ever mentioned it in the show, either.
The power to make Torches/other hollow existences into true existences. Lamies used it to restore the last painting of his loved one, then gave the spell to Yuuji and turned him from Torch into a whole existence. Then Yukari Hirai was restored from Shana as well.
It was all there in S3.
You're hoping for a series that has Mismarca-tier complicated Kanji to be translated, some 18 volumes(+ bonus material) at that.
That's not happening.
But then again there's one person nuts enough to translate everything from Kawakami, so who knows.
Iirc becuase that hougu worked by collecting magic power from the environment but all that magic was lost when creating xanadu or something with pheles and joseph or whatever. It was in S3 as well.
I found out about Shana from an old Windows XP Shana wallpaper on /g/ pic related. Asked who she was, and started watching the anime that same day.
It wasn't until 3.5 months after I found her that my interest in her turned into an obsessive crush. It went from "she's pretty hot", to a full-on love for her & everything about her. All of my longest-lasting crushes have started this way. Is this weird?
Oh definitely plenty like the endings of the first two seasons, the characterization no only on Yuuji but also of several villains and heroes and a fuckload of shit on the third season. 20+ books adapted in 76 episodes with reallllllllyyyy fucking rushed pace in the last season. Do you remember the flying girl and guy with a hat or the beach boys crew? Fuck so much was rushed and left out
I mean I love the series and the third season was still great, but this show deserves a full readaptation
That, or some weirdo actually translates it all (probably from Chinese raws because the only JP translator with that sort of dedication is js06) in spite of it having a full(-ish) anime adaptation and it being several years old.
>Shakugan no Shana over
>Zero no Tsukaima over
>Hayate no Gotoku effectively over
>Gintama soon to be over
for what purpose does Kugimiya Rie even still exist?
To voice best girl in more to come WIXOSS
Man I wish Rie could get more roles again, she should have voiced Eco in Dragonar for example.
>And we still have HnA. S2 is possible.
Fuck man I wish this could happen. They fucking teased and teased S2 and then nothing come out of it. A fucking spinoff which on it's own was alright but basically the Aria that showed up there wasn't the adorable, cute, hot and hilarious Aria from S1.
Again, Rie should get more roles. Expelled from Paradise 2 cour TV series when?
Yeah just go and reboot all Kugimiya Rie series please.
Is the latest Hidan no Aria thingy worth watching when I only thought the first season was half-decent? I enjoyed it, but holy shit could I ever see how flawed it was.
I hope you love the shit out of Yuri.
It had much better direction that it deserved honestly, and all the characters were meh with the exception of the loli trained by Riko. It was still watchable.
Her slightly deeper voice when she was in
Iona'sbody made my dick so hard, holy shit.
>js06 will never pickup Shakugan no Shana
Why even bother living?
> Yuuji became Aizen in season 3
That shit was so fun.
It is wonderful that there are so many Shanafriends on /a/
Because shit is ultra condensed nowadays. They throw at you all the tsun they can while making the MC either the biggest pussyshit ever or just giving you all of his purpose from the first line, sometimes even the fucking title as in "This guy is the next Demon lord of destruction and darkness" and shit like that rather then developing things. Also the only reason for the girl being tsundere is "he saw her naked in the 5th page of the first volume.
This, Final never had any chance since they wasted too much time after S2 didn't do so well.
My brother from another mother, yes, your choices for the top three are just perfect.
Makes me wish I had all the Shana theme songs...
Remember how Friagne wanted to turn Marianne into an actual existance? He turned humans into torches everywhere to activate this spell, right? Well, this spell was in his RING.
The ring Yuuji picked up after the fight. That ring (plus spell) was crafted by Lamies centuries ago (I think it was in one of the extra volumes). At the end, after Lamies got her wish done, she changed the conditions to be met for the ring spell to activate. TO A KISS.
When Yuuji and Shana kissed, that turned him into a whole being.
The worst thing about her is that she never had a chance, and that's what bother me. She felt like a waste of time in the end that only was there to create romantic tension. Her scene with the kid with the rod were more meaningful that anything she ever did with Yuji.
Shana is still mai waifu after all these years.
I had fun when he BTFO clone-guy. He fucking chucked Blutsauger at him. Shit was great.
Literally the hypest moment in the history of anime
>What about Yukari?
Snake used the roaming PoE to fix Misaki city using the spell insigna of Lamies and Yoshida, who helped Khamsin to tune the city back in S1.
He fought Shana to get the remaining flame of Yukari that she still held onto after taking her existence. That last fight between him and Shana was basically just a lovers quarrel.
They used to be long ago, now they're just kinda weabooish and use British english.
In any case they used SS-Eclipse scripts for Shana, so no issues and they have the best encodes honestly. The only thing I don't like is that they changed the styling for the dialogue, but that's just me.
>Sydonay wouldn't die even if he's killed from thousand flames
>He had himself get killed on purpose to be with Hecate for the rest of his life
OTP as fuck.
Uh that's a good question actually, I have the coalgirls release and I didn't even knew Doki had a release for it. Both seem to use the same script, so I would actually say download whichever. It's just a recap of the friagne arc anyways.
Oh Doki has some movie specials, so just get that.
Old member were retarded.
Also just go to Doki.co
Sources: Episodes - [SS-Eclipse]
Eh, BD source which looks fine
I was about to make a post waxing nostalgia about how we used to have fansub comparison sites, but I googled on a whim and it turns out they actually still exist and continue to run comparisons for current shows for some godforsaken reason.
You hear it, you lose.
It almost looks worse on BD.
A few years back, I downloaded every disc release I was able to find of Shana using ShareSX. All limited releases of Shana I, II, Final, S, Movie and so on. Bluray and DVD. I wonder if I still have them on my harddrive somewhere.
I wish there was an easy way of replacing dialogue styling to SS-Eclipse's one. It's a pain in the ass doing it for 26 eps every season.
Yeah S2 was similar to S1, but I think the DVDs should be fine.
>I wish there was an easy way of replacing dialogue styling to SS-Eclipse's one. It's a pain in the ass doing it for 26 eps every season.
Easy as in? You have to extract the file, change the font in Aegisub and remux it. Nothing that takes forever. The real problems arise with unexpected threeliners and shit you don't see without QCing.
>The real problems arise with unexpected threeliners and shit you don't see without QCing.
Well considering I'd use the same styling as SS-Eclipse that should be a non issue. My problem is doing this shit with 26eps x2
>Well considering I'd use the same styling as SS-Eclipse that should be a non issue. My problem is doing this shit with 26eps x2
Heh. You don't know what Doki did to fit their new font. And even Eclipse back then condensed the characters sometimes to fit the line in two lines.
What a messy crap.
>Yuuji's ruthless side was also shown during the Wilhemina debut.
In what sense? At that time his powerlevel should have been insufficient to do much more than glare at her ineffectually IIRC
>You don't know what Doki did to fit their new font.
Motherfucker you're right, fuck this shit I'll just deal with it while bitching about it.
>I'm going to skip the season where pheles is introduced, where Willhelmina has a fucking amazin fight with Sabrac, where shit goes down with Yuuji's insides and Marjerie, and a bunch of other fucking amazing stuff
>simply because notHecate and Yoshitda suck fucking shit for half the season
Give me a break I'm going off five year old memories here.
I never actually finished watching S3 because by the time it aired I'd moved on. I suppose I should get round to that at some point but then I'd have to rewatch seasons 1 and 2 first to make sure I'm in the right frame of mind.
Yeah it was, and I'm still wishing for a reboot adapting the whole story in like 100+ eps but before that ever happens, we have to accept what we were given and notHecate was cute enough for those 4 or so eps.
/a/ is too quick to shitpost about things nowadays. Can't just enjoy simple things anymore unless it's through a nostalgia filter.
side note: all this recent complaining about cookiecutter "summoned to a fantasy world" stories yet nobody remembers that Zero no Tsukaima was a thing and it got four seasons
>yet nobody remembers that Zero no Tsukaima was a thing and it got four seasons
That's because ZnT was great. Shut up
This shit right here man. Can anything really top the characher titles in SnS?
So I guess i'm the only one that likes BLAZE?
KOTOKO is my third favorite artist and Light My Fire is a great song but when you have songs like JOINT or Hishoku no Sora in the same show then the competition is fierce.
Shana wasn't generic when it came out.
Having seen some things i feel were influenced by it way before I picked up Shana, I actually reached the same conclussion.
I guess when you see the archetype you just know it.
Does somebody has all the Shana songs, I need them.
It helps that it basically is the basis for most modern LNs, it's was a really influential show that helped start this whole LN adaptation craze.
Yes. I didn't find SnS & meet Shana until 1-19-15, despite having all that time to pick it up from 2005 - 2009 when there was more hype. Then again, I didn't browse 4chan in those times either.
Worse yet, I watched Funimation on TV every single day in 6th grade (07 - 08), but they never even came close to mentioning SnS. Watching in 2015, I tried to imagine myself watching it as a kid when it first came out.
You get it.
Yuuji did literally nothing wrong
It's not rape if Yuuji is her husband.
