Tomoyo's flaws are uglier and she has a hard time growing as a person or looking past herself. As soon as you manage to get yourself to look at her more fairly instead of as an admirer, she pretty much falls off the cliff, which is a shame because she starts off great.
Kyou at least has a great, if depressing and very mistake-riddled, run in her route, and her selfish, masochistic selflessness alone adds a flawed warmth to her regular coolness. She's far less respectable and comes off as obsessively mad at times in S1 of the adaptation though.

I just finished the main story of the show. The ending was okay, felt a little cheap even if foreshadowed a lot, but the more time after having watched it the more I liked it.
