In anticipation of the Gate anime second season airing on the 9th, I'm going to be dumping the manga chapters leading up to everything covered so far. Because I want to .

Meanwhile, something they glossed over in the anime is happening.
This part bugged me in the anime. Rori just shows up with very little reason and kills all these dudes. Made her look like she was just some crazy girl.

It's never actually explained why she's just chilling out in the middle of the road here. I suppose it's just coincidence that the refugees just happen upon her, but I'unno.

A fat dragon doesn't make sense in the setting either; it was supposed to have been hibernating for years; so it should have lost body mass over time.
If anything, it should have been lean and extremely mean, to help explain why it's been aggressively huntingbesides being woken up early to mate and hunt to feed offspring.

Although it's only vaguely mentioned, later in the story someone from the Gate world finds one of Itami's cosplay fashion magazines lying around. And all the tailors start using it as references for new designs when the high ladies want new dresses. It's some holy book to them.

Assuming that part of the wound was cauterized in the explosion, and the usual expected healing level of a dragon of that size, it's not likely to bleed out.
What's more amazing though is that it wasn't disoriented by the explosion, and thus could still fly away.

Intelligence with some liasion/communications, I'm guessing.
On one end, he's trying to get Itami to use his influence to gain advantages for Japan, like more land for resources.
On the other, he's handling reporting and managing the shit that results from Itami's actions, including things like letting Pina and Bozes visit the other side of the GATE, and giving Itami a stipend to use on their guests.

Grey is a beast
The Dragons are all very tough; it's safe to say that nothing short of a direct hit from an antitank missile will hurt them. Later on, when the JSDF intercepts the two younger Dragons, the 20mm from their M61A1 Vulcans can only wind them, and their hides are resistant to fragmentation from the 155mm arty rounds. Only the TOW missiles can hurt them, and you still need to hit them in the right place.
