She developed in tandem with Yui. Azusa became more approachable and Yui got a chance to be nurturing, opposite of her relationship with Ui.
The tsukkomi is low-key so I don't mind it where I usually despise manzai. Azusa only elbows Yui in the gut once so comedy violence isn't part of her retorts. It's more natural to dilute the Mio hitting Ritsu bits. However, I kind of liked that Ritsu was diverse enough to go from boke to tsukkomi for Yui when S1 called for it; she wasn't a mere comedy archetype.
Azusa is high-grade character interaction material.

No they aren't. Mugi is canon into girls. This may be biological or due to the fact that she only ever read Yuri manga or a little of both. The other Keions (at least Ritsu and Mio) are aware of this and accept her. They make such a small deal about Mugi being a lesbian that we still have to talk about it to this day as it slipped under a lot of thickies radar.
