An anime/manga is only as good as its ending.

Definitely agree. Have a free bump.
Disagree. But a shitty ending can have a much bigger impact than than a crap start or middle

People who say the journey is the most important part are fools, it is always where you end that is important. The start and middle are meant to build towards the ending but you can't save a work with a shitty ending even if leading up to it was fantastic.

The difference between a bad ending and a bad ending are astronomical. In the former, the protagonist is left unhappy and in the latter, the reader.

the journey in koe no katachi is weak. the ending was just a consequence of this.

Bad endings thread?
>>135638638
I disagree, i think the journey is the most important. It's the mority of the series after all. "Bad endings" that were not thought out carefully do leave a bad aftertaste though.
Also, I don't consider Gurren Lagann to be a "bad ending" although I still don't understand Nia's end 100%.

Majority***

I think they are both important, a bad ending for the reader can invalidate the journey, even if I enjoyed getting to the end, if I didn't enjoy the end was it really worth it?

Gurren Lagann suffered from the second half being shit compared to the first half.

Agreed

I don't know if this is entirely true. Certainly a bad copout ending, or simply one that is rushed and shitty can spoil the whole experience, but if it manages to ruin the entire thing then it's almost impressive that it's that shitty, or the journey to get there wasn't that good in the first place.
For example, Beelzebub. Terrible ending, rushed and shitty. Before going to America it is actually quite good and while the ending causes it to decrease the whole product in quality it isn't shitty enough to make me regret reading the whole thing since the ride was good enough to avoid total disgust. I think it really depends on how good that ride was in total and just how hard the ending crashes. Case by case basis really.

Generally it seems that nips cannot end their stories to save their life.

The ending of Narutaru comes to mind?
What the fuck was that for?
>>135641587
I feel the only ending where I felt satisfied with everyone dying was Devilman.
