The cool thing about vs Perona is that a big emphasis was put on what she was doing and how she was doing. Honestly I thought it was cool because I felt I was with Usopp in trying to figure her powers out. People quickly gloss over Thriller Bark and only mention Oars or Kuma and skim over other standout moments like Usopp fighting Perona and Robin getting so close to defeating Moria in one blow.

There has been a ton of set up in the last 12 chapters alone, not to mention all the plot points and important characters Oda introduced in the last 3 arcs, from Shirahoshi to Caesar, Kinemon, Momo, Kanjuro, Burgess, Sabo, Doflamingo. It is almost hard to keep track of all this stuff and how it intertwines with plot points that were already set up hundreds of chapters ago. Everything lead somewhere or paved the way for future developments. That depends on the series, but not really for adventure epics like OP. For LotR we're following Frodo most of time much like in One Piece with Luffy. There was no way Oda could've fit in all the strawhats while giving spotlight to all the new fleet members too at one time. It was not really dragged out as a whole. It is only this long because Oda gave so much focus on the future SH fleet members. The whole coloseum part, all of them fighting together while Luffy was on his way to Doffy, some of them getting their own fights and them helping Luffy at the end while he had to regain his haki was part of their introduction.

So I'd been avoiding those movies since they have no real ties to the One Piece plot at all but I was so bored from all these breaks that I ended up watching Strong World and Film Z. They weren't totally awful but I do have one question based off of Film Z.
Everyone constantly talks about how Weeble cut off Z's arm but I don't know how anyone got this from the dialogue. I watched the dub instead of the sub so maybe it was a mistranslation but I felt it was very clearly implied to be an older Warlord. Like it couldn't be Mihawk (unless he has a Devil Fruit ability we don't know about), but I don't see why it wouldn't be Doflamingo or Kuma or something like that.
Like I think people assume the Warlords at the beginning of the series have all held their titles for a lot longer than they actually have. We saw Ace was offered the position just a year and a half before the series started so it's not like they weren't appointing people recently.
I think the idea that he only began planning his vendetta shortly before the movie is ridiculous. He would have had to build up his forces and strength first and see the pirate he hated getting away with his crimes. Weeble was a brand new Warlord at the time of that movie, there's no way it triggered Z into action that quickly.
That said, I realize since it's non-canon, the Warlord wasn't mentioned because it actually never happened but for closure's sake, I think it would make most sense to be Doflamingo, given the clues.

I love this series, but objectively, I still think its crazy how popular it is. Its main character is a fucking rubber pirate, who is basically dumb as bricks unless the plot needs him to be otherwise. We can see how not everything is planned with Trebol's fruit having contradictions in its workings, and how the crew supposedly didn't know how to use Coup de Burst when they had just used it to escape from Doffy.

I feel like most people seem to ignore Usopp's main development throughout the series. It's not about him becoming unafraid of shit. He'll always be scared. That's a character trait that'll always stick with him because in order to be brave in the first place, you need fear to overcome it.
The main development with Usopp and what we saw mainly in Dressrosa is Usopp becoming less self-centered.
