There is something that Kyoani does that other studios simply doesn't even come close to, and that's character animation. Even the Kyoani shows I dislike have character animation far superior than my favorite non-Kyoani shows.
Their characters never feel flat and always have a sense of scale compared to the world around them. They feel like actual people and not just simple 2D characters we are used to seeing.
Its something I really value in my anime.
In addition to that, we have their god-tier character design.
There is also the fact that all of their directors are competent. A director known for its comedy is directing this comedy series, and it has the Kyoani-tier character animation. Kyoani also always improves on the source material. That's how we know its going to be good.

Battle harems are no worse then any other anime. There are those that do it well and those that don't. You can at times discern these things based on a number of influences.
