I've been rereading it too because I enjoyed his Fireman manga. I absolutely forgot how good the series was. Even though the Boob Madness at the end was stupid, I didn't hate the ending that much.

Post Tsubaki or MakaRead the manga
still such a fucking great manga. Last arc is fine when you read it in one go, it just sucked monthly. Ending is weird with the focus on boobs, but it gave plenty of resolution. I'd have liked one "10 years later" epilogue thing, tho. Showing the new class entering Shibusen, with the old characters as teachers and shit. I like that sort of thing.

Do we ever find out what happen to Maka's mother? I know early on they said she and Spirit ended up getting a divorce, but I can't recall any sort of allusion to her whereabouts in the manga--the traveling thing was some anime only bulllshit, if I'm not mistaken. I read through the last two arcs expecting that she would show up at some point.
