How about we look at Future Trunks' timeline, which didn't have any Goku alive.
Babidi was supposed arrive on Earth by the time Trunks was still a boy, but Future Trunks never faced them and nothing happened regarding Majin Buu. It's probably a plot hole, but it could also be that the Kaioshin and Kibito managed to stop Babidi. It's not impossible, Babidi's only strong fighter was Dabura.
Keep in mind Kaioshin didn't even expect the Z fighters to be that strong, it was already in his plans to do everything alone.
Buu saga and Beerus saga would be avoided if Goku stayed dead. And if the dragon balls ceased to exist, Golden Frieza would never happen too.
