I really don't think that's it. That's been known about since the days of the GuP TV series, she's just suddenly like one of the top cast seiyuu. At least with Amamiya we knew it was just Sony aggressively pushing their home grown idol. I'm pretty sure she's not the only one that seems to be just skipping past the whole build up a resume and going straight to main roles and promotions, but she's definitely been among the most noticeable. It seems to have something to do with the whole ACJ Daisuki initiative, I notice she's been in a ton of shows affiliated with it.
Ayane Sakura has been getting pushed to ridiculous extents lately but at least she worked her way up the traditional way. I don't know, it'll be curious to see where Uesaka is in the coming years. I don't mind her or anything, I just find her sudden relevance perplexing given that she just seems okay at best.

It is just industry shift, they try to cast more midtier seiyuu in lead roles because the toptier is expensive and too much risk with newcomer and nobody, Sumipe has played several lead roles back then too but not that many, unlike Amamiya who suddenly plays so many lead roles since 2014 eventhough she has no lead role at all before that and only debuted in 2012, not to mention all that hype shows she got because of Sony. IMO her most interesting role isn't even from anime. It's like in this case it doesn't feel like Maaya Uchida the idol seiyuu playing a role like an avatar so it can remain obvious for promotional purposes that it's Uchida so much as you're cast to play this character, here's the character, please try to do this and disappearing into that character and the resulting reaction for me is something like "Oh she really can voice act instead of just continously playing some bubbly chuuni anime representation of the anime idol seiyuu character Maaya Uchida".
I hope that made any sense, basically what I mean is that when doing anime it's always felt like Maaya Uchida is just playing the role as she would think her fans would respond to her in that she is Maaya Uchida instead of just playing the role as it's probably supposed to be like with Y'Sayle/Shiva.
She has gotten better to put it in less abstract terms, but only cause she's gotten experience.

Oh and I should say one of the things about FFXIV is that it's a really fanservicey cast full of known heavy FFXI players, including Uchida. So she's actually there particularly for the sake of being Maaya Uchida but succeeds at doing the role very competently to make it work.
