It's been one episode. Heck, it's not even the official first episode. While it's looking a lot like magic and AKB0048, give it a few more episodes. They had the dogfight and music on point and a love triangle is sure to surface in due time. If it ends up being an entertaining ride by the end, it's all good. It wouldn't hurt to be more alike previous Macross series but it hasn't strayed exceptionally far like people are claiming. Let it happen.

I actually argued in the last thread that singing in Macross serving as communication between 2 different species is not magical at all, considering music can communicate feelings even if they don't understand the lyrics. It makes sense for the pacifist message of Macross.

OH god, this is exactly what I need. Imported it 2 years ago along with E.X. Troopers. Played it for a bit along with EX until I got completely hooked on EX. Played some other games after finishing it and when I finally came back to play M30 I had no idea what the hell I was doing because I can't read moon. Managed to play it by listening to the voices and pressing the shown buttons during the tutorial. Finally I can actually play the game.

The game is great when you know what you are doing
Shame its not in english, won't be able to know about all the character interactions and how the story goes, gameplay is great and much more fun when you beat the game and can play as all the characters and use any vehicle including Zentradi mechs and Basara's VF.
The game is pretty easy unfortunately and you can save up missiles and spam special versions of them along with special attacks.
My major flaw with this game is the fucking music only plays when you use someone as an assist and it loops maybe once before stopping and the rest of the game is void of music.
