Just finished Tatami Galaxy. This shit hit my hard. Being in college right now and watching this was extremely relatable even if the story is fantastical. I haven't been able to stop crying even an hour after finishing the last episode. It's making me rethink my life. Now please tell me how bad it is and why i shouldnt like it

It seems like people who went to college have a huge soft spot for this show for some reason. Like it perfectly captures the college experience or whatever. Well, I never went to college. I liked the show overall, but it felt like it was spinning its wheels for a long time. The ending was fantastic, but not much happened for the first nine or whatever eps. Apparently all of this is a glorious masterpiece if you went to college and lived in a dorm or whatever.
Basically this show is like 7-8/10, unless you went to college and spent your time drifting aimlessly and being all narcissistic (the typical college experience), then it's 9-10/10.

Yeah, I'm definitely not saying it didn't land. The ending certainly had me rethinking my life a bit. Just that the full impact of the show seems very dependent on the viewer having actually gone to college.
One time I actually went into a 3x3 thread to ask them why they liked Tatami Galaxy so much (they circle jerk over this show constantly), and they basically all confirmed that it's something about capturing the college experience.

I'm in college too, I have the same regret but I didn't feel very connected to this show. It has moment where it made me rethink, but it can never change me as a person. Maybe I'm just using it as an excuse to self-pity, but that's how human are.
Overall I think it's unique, and cleared out storyline. Not that special, but memorable nontheless. I think Welcome to the NHK hit me more than Tatami, especially the suicidal aspect of the show.
