Nah, bad adaptation and they ruined the character designs hard, especially the side characters. Itami looks better, Tuka looks okay, Rori looks okay but her outfit looks worse, Leilei looks 8 years old and everyone else looks worse.

The GATE anime is good as porn for fans of the manga.
As a standalone, it's meh, unless you happen to be really, really into Rory's type. (I met this dude who was wearing a Kuroneko shirt at a con, told him to check out GATE, and he spent like a month FB messaging me gushing about how great Rory was.)
So yeah, if you love the manga, the anime is fun. The casting is good too, the characters sound pretty much exactly how you'd imagine them in the manga, and the animation is decent once you get used to the designs.

I went on a rant about this the other day, so I won't go overboard again, but basically I think that by toning her down from glorious black lace to bland pink cotton, which seems like a minor change, they took away a big factor that helps viewers accept her as a mature character with adult sexuality and made her seem way more like pedobait than she did in the manga.

The rori design bothers me the least, they fucking ruined the monster girls so bad I actually dropped it. Rori herself, not a fan of the outfit but her voice made up for it and her fight in the japanese garden was good. Voices in general were good.
It's just not a good adaptation though, animation was mostly subpar and everything else was pretty meh.
