Ok so I just watched Evangelion and liked it then I watched 1.0 and just finished 2.0 but I'm confused about Evas now. So how did they get Toji's mom soul and when? How could Mari pilot Unit 02 and Asuka pilot Unit 03 if they are supposed to be linked to the souls of the pilot's mothers. Did Asuka's mom have two souls? Also why is Mari super good at piloting an Eva that's not even her's? Is she a "Mary Sue"?

That's not really a thing in Rebuild, so far only Unit 01 has been confirmed to contain a human soul and Fuyutsuki called it an obsolete method. Then there are the AT drones. Somebody continued the research Yui abandoned.
