MC isn't exactly a mary sue, and he pretty much gives up all his technologies to the kingdom and they almost beat him because he's fucking around half the match.
He almost kills himself testing rockets and he doesn't even care. He's a bwaka through and through.
And its not that he doesn't realize that the girls are all over him, he just doesn't care. There's scenes of him just reading shit or working on mechs and girls are fondling him and he's just ignoring it. Plus the fights are pretty good.

Nisio's series always get the full 3 episode test from me.
"ef: A Tale of Memories" has a similar premise about memory loss. So does Gene Wolf's "Soldier of the Mist" series. Both are good.
Shaft did the "ef" adaptation, come to think of it. Though the director was Shin Oonuma not Shinbo.

Also SHAFT is pretty fucking flexible, most of their shows look pretty distinct withing the broad constricts of their style. With the exception of maybe Mekakucity, that was pretty derivative all around.
Monogatari looks nothing like Koufuku Graffiti, both of those look nothing like Sasami-san. Nisekoi stood out less but it also had it's moments.

Not trying to defend the manga, but the anime started off with an anime-original amnesia gimmick which was just execrable.

Moon Phase, Monogatari, Negima!?, Bund and even Sasami-san all have a certain abstraction in style and body language, and use of saturated color palettes for shadowing and highlighting, that feel similar.
(I had forgotten about Nisekoi though - probably because I never bothered with it.)

The Lazy King would be VERY hard to adapt, I reckon. With multiple first-person narrators, almost all the "dialog" is internal monologue. So, should the anime have constant voice-overs? That sounds awkward, but without her interior voice, Zebul would be nothing more than a mindless, devouring force of nature. Leigie himself is, by necessity, almost voiceless, and yet somehow his feelings get conveyed to the reader. (The whole series is rather cleverly constructed and written IMO.)

Where were you when we were talking about it in Danmachi threads? It is pretty much confirmed that there'll be an adaptation because the composer and another staffer teased it on twitter. The composer has even already worked on the OST. PLus GA Bunko is promoting his LNs since 2015 and Oratoria is the 2nd most popular LN of their labels. And there's the Danamchi event in February, it'll most likely air after Bahamut and Hundred.
