I've just started reading gantz, I'm now on chapter 31. The illustrations are a bit shit and the character development is nonsensical and shit. The gore is great, as are the lovely boobs.
Is it worth reading more? Does it get better? Is it just edges for pervo nip teenage boys? Is every male character a rapist?
The art gets much better later. The manga is divided in three parts.
The first one gets much better towards the middle and end, when you finally see a fixed group that works well together + the usual random people.
The second one is overall good, new teams are introduced, badass aliens, motherfucking Oka Hachirou and one fight that went for too long.
The third one is shit and ruined the entire series, but at that point you're gonna keep reading just to see it end.

Also, is the anime worth watching?
If you're reading Gantz for the plot, you'll be disappointed. Turn off your brain and enjoy the dumb fun and nice tits.

I feel like gantz is a diamond covered in shit. I should hate it, and aspects of it are so bad, but I love it anyway, even the story and characters. if you're unsure after about chapter 100 you might as well drop it

It's great until around chapter 200. That's when they start coming up with nonsensical storylines to switch up things.
I dropped it at 200 but I should probably just finish it at that point. I really did love it until that bullshit orb reveal.

I gets better but then it gets worse.
Drop it after the Oni mission. It turns to shit after that. Some might argue that the Osaka mission is worth reading through but it really isn't.

What do you mean by character development? I always loved how Oku portrayed fear in the manga, he transmit that fear to the reader so fucking well, and in general all the reactions feel so real.
Art improve hugely so in that aspect expect the best.

The only problem with the Osaka mission was the length of it, if you go read it in one go now you will realize how fucking good it was. Also the italy mission is by far the best in the series, so just keep reading till you hit katastrophe.
