I think the plot is meant to be focused more on the journey, but it is so nothing it doesn't work.
The character development is weak and more focused on repeating words than actual development and change. There isn't much of a struggle as they take on stuff so easily, get nearly everything they want and the only loses are nameless. There are no clever business dealings, they just ask and get. The pirates feel like straight up filler and so do the exposition episodes. We haven't even seen exciting new locations, the Turbines colony which could have been a cool mix of Italian a and Japanese just looked like a standard city but you see space from windows. The world building in general feels terrible and the world just isn't alive
