It's not like it's super uncommon for kids to unintentionally come across with gay body language, especially the weird ones. If we take everything at face value, both the author and directors have expressed that they don't see Kumiko's/Reina's relationship as a serious romantic relationship. Coupled with the fact that elevens doesn't buy anime that directly focus on homosexual relationships, (some of the Nips were even complaining that face-holding in episode 11 was too gay) it's unlikely that KyoAni will change the canon or focus on that aspect of their relationship that much anymore. Any possible Kumiko and Reina gayness will most likely be magically transferred to the two new girls and these two before season two. I hate this. Yuri is such a board term that it's practically meaningless. It can mean literally everything from two girls talking to each other once to onscreen scissoring. And because of that you get people assuming that just because two girls talk to each other they want to scissor each other, since it's all yuri. This makes finding real lesbian content in anime hard as fuck, since 99% of the time people are talking about yuri, they mean the light subtext type of yuri, not the actual lesbians type of yuri.
