I feel like episodes 16 and 19 looked better on DVD. But the best version in terms of color and stuff is probably TV broadcast.
Regardless of that, this show miraculously have enough detail for HD so you can see some very fine thing with new release. higher resolution so I guess will watch Blu-rei now. Also rips have japanese subs, wanted to memorize all dialogue for quite a while.

Because EoE is supposed to cover the same timespan as episodes 25-26, and in the beginning of episode 25 it's stated to be near right after Kaworu's death.
And then in EoE, the first scene is Shinji at the beachshore where he was in the last scene of episode 24.
I don't see how it could be more than a day after.
