We need to become Hunters ourselves.
Let me elaborate a little. While watching the Hunter Exam from the 1999 series, it came to me: We don't need more chapters or more episodes, we've got everything we need already. Hunter X Hunter isn't just a story about The Squad (Yusuke, Kurama, Kuwabara, Hiei) reincarnated for more ass-kicking adventures, it's a calling for humanity. Over and over again, it's brought up how Hunters are the elite of the elite, and demonstrated, and I'm not talking about Nen abilities (fucking Kurapica uses Calculus at like what, 13-14, during the extended 3rd Phase to calculate when the battleship would reach maximum buoyancy during the water spout, Pokkle and Ponzu are able to fix a steam turbine generator with zero notice, Gon can hold his breath for nearly 10 minutes, even Leorio, who is classified as a "normal guy" is able to run for hours on end during the First Phase of the Exam) but the thing is, none of these actions are incredibly far fetched. The only thing that separates them from us is motivation.
I feel as though our modern "understanding" of science has lured society into a sense of complacency; almost as if we know everything, when in reality, we're barely on the tip of the iceberg. We just assume because we don't see or hear about people performing incredible feats, it's flat out impossible, and when it does come to light, well, "they were just freaks of nature, I'm not capable of something like that" or "It's not in my genes for me to be able to do something like that." Fighting is so heavily frowned upon today only a handful of individuals who haven't had military training are proficient in hand to hand combat, and the fact 1 person with a gun (quite possibly the greatest insult to combat ever conceived) can get away with killing dozens of people before offing themselves is despicable; it really speaks for how soft society and modern convenience has allowed many to become.

Step 1: Money and Clout: I'm going to school to be a nuclear chemist, with a focus on radiation chemistry. Anyone who can find a way to neutralize/deal with radioactive material better than we do now will have it made, both fiscally and politically. The money I make from that will be split 50/50 between creating the resource base that Hunters have (i.e the Hunter Website, transportation), and charity. I was a Boy Scout for 8 years, so I don't really need too much to get by in the ways of living, so I'll take a little for like an apartment to keep my necessary gear, but nothing fancy. Step 2. Recruitment: Travel around, find like minded individuals that are about it, train a shit ton, present Step 3 to the U.N. Step 3: Create an autonomous country: Create a man-made floating island (or perhaps several, gotta get the first one made and we'll see about that) that floats around the world with no particular destination in mind where Hunter Exams would take place and where HQ would be located. 12 years old would be minimum age to apply (parental consent would be a must), and the Test would be something that changes every year. Once you pass, the island would have the academic resources available for you to study anything you like, and you can leave the island whenever.
Obviously got some issues (a lot in part on the feasibility aspect, but don't you worry, because I'm getting there), and I think the more people I can get together to work on it, the better the end product will be.
