I've really begun to see kanbaru as just annoying as fuck, le goofy but actually serious and really smart combined with the preachy attitude is just grating. Araragi is pretty much the same though. He makes this song and dance with Gahara, but in her and Tsubasa's time of need, he gives weak reasoning for what is ultimately him posturing for Shinobu. And he was lucky Hanekawa fought with all she had while he had his thumb up his butt. He enabled Shinobu's codependency by going through this, as even Gaen said, a pointless duel.
This makes the relationship issues that Kaiki points out in Hitagi End more apparent, even when Araragi declared the two should talk their troubles out more as a couple, he ignores this a few months later.

Doing a rewatch right now of the whole series and I'm so annoyed at the state of subs for second season. Commie has the best subs for SS by far, (Coalgirls is an edited Daisuki script,) but they never finished releasing the BDs. RushJob muxed their TV subs to BD rips but they aren't seeded, same with this batch: http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=581847 containing rush job/commie releases with BD video. No seeds.
Can't recall whether or not I'd really be missing out much by just going with Commie's TV releases for the last half or so of SS, but I want the BDs damnit.

He's putting off some issues that can be very thorny while he's living as a human. His current plan of waiting several decades to deal with them is actually kind of feasible. It's the Rouka strategy and it can probably work on every mortal he knows. That said, he's still a coward and none of that mitigates how much his inaction is hurting Shinobu. Speaking of which, I don't particularly blame Shinobu for not trying to initiate the conversation herself. Even a stressful and undefined relationship with Araragi is miles better than the centuries of loneliness and misery she's had to endure. Plus, she's still clinging to her vampire pride that makes her feel like she's debasing herself if she openly admits her feelings to Araragi. I'm still pretty impressed by how fast her personal growth has been and asking her for even more this soon seems a bit unfair.

Senshiro just offed himself when he became a vampire. Araragi took the hardest possible route by fighting back and basically enslaving Kisshot. And now he has to deal with becoming a vampire anyways and whatever Ougi is to him. Maybe you just don't like Araragi, in that case you might as well go for an interesting alternative like Kaiki.
Actually, Senshiro strikes me as a Yozuru kind of guy morally. He would just strike oddities down instead of working to resolve problems. Which doesn't fit for a dialogue heavy show like Monogatari.

As for Shinobu's actions, I know she could have done things better, but no other character in the entire series has had to do anything that hard or in that sort of timeframe. Her rejection seemed to be thorough enough for Araragi anyways, because he turned around and used the same one on Hanekawa a few minutes later. She still managed to handle it correctly, if only barely.
