I like that after the S1 episode where they just state idols aren't allowed fall in love without batting an eye, they went back to it in S2 and had Orihime say she thinks idols should be allowed to have relationships as long as they don't half-ass them and make their fans want to support them rather than turn away from them. I know how the industry works, but in all honesty it's kinda fucked up. It would be interesting if they eventually explored this theme in the anime, maybe with a side character because adding romance for a main character (like, say, Akari/Sena) would necessarily require to give it a lot of screentime which is something they might not want to do.

It's not really serious, it's an over the top pandering kind of drama where everyone is a massive turd just to make you feel bad for the protagonists. I'd call it cartoonish but ironically it's not common for Chinese cartoons. (Manga on the other hand...)
