It had everything I was looking for in a series. Over the top mecha action with lots of yelling with a fantastic OST. A lot of casuals love it, so I figured it couldn't be THAT bad.
It was complete garbage. First time I tried to watch it was years ago. Made it to episode 5 because Kamina and Simon were unbearably annoying.
Tried watching it again a couple months ago. Made it to Kamina's death but I was pushing myself so hard through the series that I couldn't bring myself to watch anymore of it.
Third time I made it to Nia's appearance and suddenly edgy Simon. Dropped it again.
I'm going to attempt to read the manga, but who knows how that will go. I'm just desperate to salvage anything out of this series at this point.
I dropped AO by episode 10 but not because I wasn't enjoying it. Felt well made. Why the universal hate /a?

I don't overhype for most things because I usually don't know what's coming out until the first or second week of the season, but Rail Wars was some serious bullshit. Was totally into the cabooses from the preview art, but the series was just so damn boring.

It got a lot of hype and it seemed like it was going to be a great show but it just kept getting worse and worse. It just made all the wrong decisions and it's like it was written by two people that hate each other and want to bring the other down. I would have dropped it but each episode set up the next like it was finally going to get really good

I went in expecting MANkoto, just like /a/ always described. Instead I found the standard loser harem protag, where the only way he's any different from the rest is that he actually accepts the free sex girls offer him.
Terror in Resonance. Watanabe is my boy who can do no wrong, except this one time where he made a mess of a show. I liked the idea of it all, but where the show actually went was a bummer and a half. Narrative aside it was great, but I can't say I wasn't let down.

I tend to get lucky and either enjoy the stuff i got hyped up for or keep my expectations grounded so disappointment isn't so harsh.
Then came Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Kept my expectations grounded and it still stomped every enthusiasm i had for it. Early on it had great set up for any battle shounen then came the fucking Future arc; the drop off point. Wasted a lot of time watching the anime and even read the manga. Dropped it for years and even now i have lingering thoughts of finishing it just to let it end.
