When will English in Anime become correct?
>>
>>135063082

For what reason?
>>
I'd like to see you pronounce Japanese.
>>
>>135063126
Japanese is pretty easy pronunciation wise because it isn't a tonal language and isn't really all that complex, linguistically.

>>135063184
So, where is the recording?

Japanese people always tell me that my pronunciation is perfect, but that I talk like like a guy from a shounen anime.

Hmm, I wonder why?

Well I still need some work on "ん" but my Japanese friends understand me without problem.

This is a good thing. Trust me.

Ha, that must have been learning.

Suppose that's better than a guy from a shoujo anime

Trilingual spic here. Sure is great being hispanic-speaking master race. My english is- thank god -indistinguishable from a native speaker, due to how early we moved here. And luckily, knowing Spanish gives you a ridiculous edge in Jap pronunciation.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty funny. It became a whole running thing when I visited otaku friends in Japan.

I was incredibly flattered when they all decided that I sounded like Shuuichi Ikeda. (Char from Gundam.)

Do you speak like this?
>>
>>135063581
Kind of, it depends on what I'm trying to sound like though. I only took a few basic classes, and then learned the rest through a combination of friends and listening to anime and movies, so most of my spoken Japanese was learned phonetically as whole words and not by reading romaji or kana. Doing it that way made me pretty good at imitating accents.

Makes me wish I stuck with learning Spanish when I was growing up. I've got the native tongue for Spanish and can speak Japanese just fine, but I'm too big a lazy shit to actually learn either language.
>>
>>135063541
I think this helped me as well. I'm not hispanic, but I grew up in SoCal and Spanish is everywhere here, it's hard to grow up without hearing it constantly and learning a decent amount unless you're some super-sheltered private school white kid.

Native supeingo speaker here.

English speakers can't even pronounce "Kirino" without making that weird sound in the "ri".

Spanish master racer

OP. I'm trilangual. Korean, English, Japanese. Able to speak English while lacking clarity in pronounciation. Japanese, on the other hand, is near perfect. But for some reason, it gets a little bit blurry when I speak through mic. I can assure you, having Korean as your mother language is the best way to get edge on learning Japanese.

Oh. Why did I ever confused i with a.
>>
>>135064229
It's derived from the Latin "lingua", meaning tongue or language.
As I'm sure you've seen, lots of complex English words (like bilingual, linguistics, or cunnilingus) are based directly on Latin words.
Language, on the other hand, is a fairly common word that was borrowed from French centuries ago. It ultimately comes from Latin as well, but it mutated along the way.
>>
>>135064477
Oh, and we're getting pretty far away from /a/nime at this point, but if you really want to be confused about 'a' vs. 'i', check out words that end in -able or -ible.
Some Latin words end in -abilis, and some end in -ibilis, and they are rendered as -able and -ible in English words. Totally coincidentally, in English, the ending -able comes from the word able. Both generally mean the same thing.
At one point, there was a movement to change all the -ables to -ibles, but it was only half successful.
And in any case, the two spellings were often used interchangeably.
So something that can be accepted is acceptable, while something that can be accessed is accessible.
