Ever since the update to Firefox 43 my Google IME seems to be semi-incompatible with it, as in, it still converts the characters as it should, but the list of different conversions that is supposed to be displayed that you scroll through freezes in place or doesn't display at all. It still works fine anywhere else though. I tried reinstalling and resetting both FF and the IME but neither did anything.
Anyone else experiencing this? I really don't know what else I could try.

Tried "card: cloze" in the browser, but that just deleted the whole deck even though it was only showing cloze

Probably because what it actually shows you are the notes which may just have multiple card types. If so, just delete the card template using cloze. I don't have that deck though so I might be completely off.

>I don't see what purpose masu stem + し serves
It puts verbs in a "pre-nominal" (don't know the technical name) form, i.e. if you do masu-stem+し+noun phrase then the verb qualifies the noun.

It also makes it sound like ancient legends, magical chants and shit like that so that's where you'll see it 99% of the time. Also, it seems to have a tendency to appear along with the passive form, like in your example.

So: 呪われし宝石 = The cursed jewel. A staple is 選ばれし者, the chosen one(s).

いき is the reading in that core example sentence. Think of 行き in that sentence as "on the way over". The opposite of 帰り "on the way back".
行きは新幹線で行ったのですが、今回は泊まらず日帰り、
帰りは新幹線の最終に間に合わないので深夜バスを予約しておきました
I went there by the Shinkansen but this time I didn't stay the night. I wouldn't have made the last train so I booked a bus for the way back.

But when 行き is used as a noun-suffix, it indicates the location a bus/train eg. 東京行き = bound for Tokyo. In this case, いき and ゆき can be interchangeable though I'm guessing you'll need to hear it a lot like a native to get a feel for which one sounds more natural with what destination.

I am studying Chrono Trigger by playing the game on an emulator and using this to guide me when I don't understand things.

https://static.chronocompendium.com/Black/Publications/Retranslation/CT%20Retranslation%20-%20Chapter%201.htm

I already read it but I am not really familiar enough with Chrono Trigger like I am other games so I am actually going to play it while reading. When I finish the game and reread all this I know that I am going to learn a bunch.

Just not really into anime.

You'll have to change the background and font colours if you are after black and white, as my deck is different. For more information on where that deck came from, this thread has answers.

This thread exists for such questions. If you don't like community, why don't you just read and ignore the threads? Your own advice.

I'm not a big stickler for messing with font colors, the deck came like that when I got it.

Would it be possible to switch to your deck while maintaining the scheduling data? I didn't mind lack of word translations at first because I knew most of the stuff from anime and checked jisho whenever I wasn't sure but now I fear it might get tougher the further I get and I don't want to trouble the thread every time something isn't clear.

He's obviously from the most useless kind that is unable to empathize with anyone in different situation from his own and thinks that if he gets something everyone else should as well even if that person knows far less. However I wanted to avoid needless shitflinging because from what I saw things can escalate quickly, so I tried to respond calmly despite staggering stupidity of his replies and was prepared to drop the subject.
That's why - thanks again for answering as otherwise I would just delete the card to move on with the deck.

Did you even read what is said there?

>The stem when used by itself can be a very specialized and limited way of creating nouns from verbs.
>can
>very specialized and limited
I don't expect to see those within top500 most entry level words.

>In fact, in very rare cases, the stem is used more often than the verb itself.
>in very rare cases

>There are a number of specific nouns (such as 「休み」) that are really verb stems that are used like regular nouns. However, in general we cannot take any verb and make it into a noun.
休み is the only example.
There's nothing else.

Basically japanese is a "synthetic" language. This means that it's all about combining small parts into big parts.

Japanese only has six verb conjugations, and they're not even always used anymore.

At about (new cards daily / old cards daily) times your old review count. A little more if you made your retention worse by adding new cards.

The function for the minimum number of reviews you can have on day X after starting your deck is newcardsdaily * (log(X)/log(ease)). Ease is 2.5 by default and lower values result in more reviews, so unless you press "easy" way too often this will be an accurate minimum number of reviews.

Yeah, I figure it'll stop somewhere around 500-600 based on where it stopped with 30-ish cards a day. If I get through those reviews fast enough by the time it levels out, I might start doing more, but we'll see.

Doubling new cards seems to have slowed my reviews time a little bit, but I assume when reviews get up to around 500 and most of the cards aren't newer cards it'll speed back up. If my pace picks back up and I can do those reviews in under an hour, I'll probably bump it up to 80-100 new cards depending how I'm feeling.

Of course the initial switch from manga to vns will be tough, but assuming you're able to understand what's going on with some effort and occasional texthooker use, it'll get a lot easier if you stick with it.

Also note Fureraba has some really pretty world-building in the prologue that might be a little tough, but after that it gets slightly easier, although it maintains its fun and excitement throughout.

Sitting is bad for your spine, period. What are you struggling to understand here? It is due to how your spine compresses. Only standing provides correct lower back support.

It does not matter if you spend ten grand on a chair, it is the fundamental nature of seated posture.

>It is due to how your spine compresses
Your spine compresses when you stand as well, unless you're referring to some phenomenon that only occurs when sitting with specific kinds of back support.

Squatting is one of the natural postures of the human body, there's a reason slavs and africans do it all the time. Whatever fundamental fuckup to the back you're talking about, it should apply equally to squatting, which curves the lower back forwards just like sitting.
>>
>>134940912
>It does not matter if you spend ten grand on a chair
Expensive chairs are usually worse for your back actually

The very worst thing you can do for your back is provide support to the upper parts of it, which is something that expensive chairs are obsessed with. It's probably for fat people. But it's excruciatingly painful for me.

I don't know why people would even bother, it'll just wind up being ESL drivel again. Use Tae Kim? I'd rather kill myself.

Japanese The Manga Way is objectively the best beginner's resource for grammar, unless you're a dirty ESL who only thinks in terms of predicate particles for a clause injunction, and other nonsense words that have no meaning.
