Texhnolyze isn't all that bitter or nihilistic It's pretty resigned to the notion that humanity in that world is fucked no matter what form it takes, sure, but the entire point of the MC's arc is that even the most primitive and selfish of people can change for the better and get at least some happiness, and that the struggle is worthwhile.
If you want something that is genuinely nihilistic, bitter, and disgusting, then read Narutaru. It's the exact opposite of the author's other work, Bokurano, where there was an actual hopeful message about appreciating life and there was a point to all the death and suffering. Narutaru is just pointless misery.
So how does Technolyze match up with Bokurano in terms of bleakness?

I could give you a huge list of manga, because I like horror manga a lot.
In terms of anime I would say Perfect Blue is acceptably frightening.
There are a lot of psychological and thrilling anime (see Evangelion,...) but the horror genre isn't all that popular within the anime scene.
What's even less popular is realism being applied, which makes any attempts at horror (see Higurashi, Monster,...) not as frightening as it makes them brutal and thought-provoking.
