Not on a shitty SSD drive known to be one of the worst archive method.

I only archive chinese music nowadays.
>>
>>134866928
I just have a two 4TB drives, using one for manual backup after each season. I'd love to have an LTO drive or something for archiving but it's a bit much for what I need.

Started with a 1TB external hard drive and kept storing shit in it (not just anime), when I had had like 80Gb left I bought a 2TB external hard drive and transferred everything to it. Guess when that one runs out I'll buy a 3TB or more external hard drive and repeat the same process and so on indefinitely.

Not sure if this is the most practical way but at least it's not that expensive since being a poorfag is suffering
>>
>>134866928
1 TB HDD as main drive
320GB encrypted HDD to save only the best

All anime are 360p so 1 TB is a lot of anime considering 1 episode is like 30-50 MB

Just curious here. Why do you guys store your anime?
Whenever I'm finished I usually keep the files for a few days, skip trough them and rewatch the best parts then I delete them and make room for new stuff.

All I have is the tiny 320GB hard drive on my laptop and a 2TB USB external drive. I don't archive anime that I've watched, only download anime that I intend to watch soon. It goes from my text backlog list to the 2TB external to the 320GB internal to watching it to deleting it.

Funny story.

About 5 years ago, our state library thought it would be a GREAT idea to move all historical video archives to CD. They spent a considerable amount of money doing this.

About a year later a clerk was trying to retrieve some archives when they found the video archives and their back-ups were corrupt.

Thousands of hours of historical footage was lost forever due to this decision.

You can always trust the government to make intelligent and well informed decisions...
>>
It really should only depend on the following question:
Is the torrent still going to exist with seeders in the future?
Don't have it on this computer but I have the 1930-1970 animation films on 2 external HDD and the other computer since I can't imagine downloading it now.
Same with a few other stuff including tamayura. Would be a pain to re-download that shit again.

1. For the inevitable fallout/world war where internet is restricted to your own country a la North Korea

2. For the inevitable piracy laws which will make pirating all forms of media near impossible (have to "know people" and go through dumb bullshit procedures)

3. To make sure that future generations of animu fans will be able to get the best encode of whatever anime by seeding what I download
>>
>>134871175
When that happens, it's comforting to know that me and animu fans all over the world will be able to seed their collection and save humanity

You better at least backup the most obscure ones and your image folders.Going bigger is not and advantage if it fails on you. I'd rather have multiple 1tb ones than upgrade and eventually lose 3tb or more in one go.

We will actually have to organize some undisclosed intentional meetings and share or trade the content in person.
>>
If I really like something, I leave it on my HDD for a few years to seed. After that it goes on DVD or an external HDD.
If I don't like it, I seed for a few months and delete it.

>>134869169

SSD is better for a running system, but for archiving just get a couple 4tb or bigger HDD. Why two(minimum)? Make duplicate copies and store the other one in a water+fireproof box and hide it somewhere safe.
>>
I have a plex server that I made out of my old rig that has a 4TB and a 1TB HDD in right now. I just about filled up the 4TB between movies, anime, and shows. Will probably get a second 4TB sometime down the line.
>>
>>134869314
I only keep the anime I like and delete the rest
>>
>>134873336

Good start, but you should get five or more drives and raid them together.
>>
>>134873386
I probably will at some point. Only reason I didn't do more with the server yet is I just did a new PC build this year that was a bit costly and I still need to upgrade the HDD's in that one first.

I just wish Plex was better for anime. It is great for Anime movies, TV shows and Movies, but gets weird with auto-downloading meta data for Anime.
>>
>>134873386
Which raid setup? RAID 6 or 60 or 10 or ZFS or what?

Only have about 100-150gb worth of animu on my hdd, just shit I haven't watched yet to prepare for when I move and we don't have internet yet in the new house for a few days or so. Why download when you can stream?
