dunno the consensus around here but I think the American R1 DVD version of sailor moon from 2003 had better and more correct-looking color quality than the new Bluray version (Viz media) and the Toei R2 Japan DVD.

Japan 2009 DVD or Dynit DVD are the best version available. Slap on it some color correction and they're perfect.
Japan's airing a "remastered" version but it's nothing more than a heavily DNR'ed upscale.
There's plan for Madman to release Sailor Moon on DVD (I don't know if they already released them or not). But from what I've seen it looks like the footage have been DNR'ed, and color-corrected. Pic related.

Are the italian DVDs subbed?
Right is the best and the closest to how it's supposed to like like. Left is way too pink, and the colors are so fucked in the center that the pink glow around the moon disappears.

Is the manga for this worth reading?
Usually I'm one of those people that says that the original is better than the adaptation, but the Sailor Moon manga is shoujo and the anime is so different from it that it might as well not even be an adaptation.
