Okay so I recently started watching One piece, and it is really good. I LOVED the arlong arc, but I couldn't really get in to the Alabasta arc. So I was wondering, does one piece get better? It has some really good parts, but I wasn't feeling the crocodile arc.
It gets really good as it goes along, then flatlines then gets good. Give it more time or (and I highly suggest this) just read the manga which is vastly superior

The series itself continues to improve while the anime consistently gets worse thanks to gradually cheaper animation budgets and a slowing pace that eventually reaches half a chapter per episode.
The next arc you're heading into is generally one of the less popular ones though.
It gets a shit ton better, then has some bumps that get you angry.
Then gets Amazing! for a time you'll want to last forever but it doesn't.
Then it gets meh for way too long a period but that also comes to an end.
Stay on the ship anon, you wont regret it but you'll be ont he ship for a while.

Read it, don't watch it. Alabasta, Skypiea, Foxy, Impel Down, Marine Ford, are far superior in the manga with much faster pacing. Same with the entirety of post-ts. That and you'll miss cover stories that are canon to the story.
The Alabasta saga hits a tipping point and becomes good...for the last 10% or so of it.
You've got the best two sagas in the series coming up after this, so stick with it.

Oh, I meant to say Water 7/Enies Lobby. Not sure if I should count that all as one arc or not. It stars the same characters but moves to a different location. The Enies Lobby part is really the part that people love.
