A lot of things aren't as bad as people say, anyway, especially on /a/.
It was worth watching just to see Tigre do another ridiculous thing every single episode. I also liked how all the girls were strong as heck and integral to the plot. Shame about the animation during the entire show though, especially the CG. I guess they'd have to resort to it for several hundred soldiers throughout every other episode though.

I wanted to like this show. I really, truly did. So much so I tried to read the LN to see if it was a significant improvement. But the very concept of "bishoujo fantasy" as the focus, as appealing as it sounds, is killer when it's at the expense of actual plot and characterization. Frankly, works that focus too much on either male or female characters, especially when those characters are primarily meant to appeal to the opposite gender, generally suffer drastically in quality for it. Or maybe that's just me; I'm getting really sick of sausage or taco fests in my series.
And Tigre doesn't count. He's a fucking harem lead. Incidentally, you know what I fucking hate about Tigre and protagonists like him? To give him flaws so he's not just a totally perfect and therefore worthless character, they have him be a little clueless compared to the girls and end up making a joke of it on occasion. But he's still brave and competent and fuckin' magic, so they want to jump his dick anyway. Man, is it too much to ask for a lead in a show like this whose primary flaw isn't being kind of dumb? Well, at the very least he's more the skillful sort and doesn't just get by on hurrdurr guts and effort. But I digress.
I think the aesthetic of the series is really appealing and the politics are passably good. The powerlevel shit is hard to tolerate, though.
