It was one of the first anime I watched so I'm kinda nostaligafag for it, but I can see why people wouldn't like it.
It needed to be tweaked a lot to be even just average. A show can be saved by shock value alone. I couldn't even finish it after 3 episodes.
I like Elfen Lied even more than I used to because I'm finally a mature adult.
