Story and characters were more interesting and the atmosphere and tone more fitting.
Brotherhood had more action, better animation and followed the manga more closely which is not always a good thing as seen with the "comedy".
Both had shit use of alchemy and terrible endings. Although original is again more interesting in these categories. Both had good soundtracks.
eh, I remember the original going from understandable to batshit in like 2 episodes and only worsened from there.

In every other category Brotherhood beats it convincingly. The ending of the original was the biggest wtf nonsense I seen in anime in a long time. Terrible.

Every single faggot that likes the original more than brotherhood only likes it for that part at the end where Al is a kid and Ed is gone. What these people don't realize is that you have to fucking plow through a retarded amount of filler, and the fact that alchemy is powered by real world deaths is just retarded. That part at the end is cool and all but it doesn't justify all the other bullshit that happened in the original series.
The original's ending made no sense at all. I remember listening to fags like you and watching the original first, then later watching Brotherhood, and wondering why the fuck I wasted my time on the turd that was the original.
The original is what happens when you take an anime studio, whose job is adapting manga into anime, and telling them to make their own original story halfway through. It doesn't work, that's not their job, and they suck at it.

I liked both with a slight preference towards the 2003 anime because of nostalgia and the bittersweet ending. The 2003 anime also had a better OST on top of much better EDs OPs. Nothing beats porno grafitti's melissa or ready steady go desu.

I just recently started 03 (only watched Brotherhood) and it's complete horseshit. They managed to make literally everything good about Brotherhood look like complete shit in comparison. I don't even think I can get through 51 episodes, let alone 10.

In this case they diverged from the source material halfway though - the result is an retarded, incomprehensible mess that completely destroyed everything good about the manga/2009 adaptation(BROTHERHOOD).
All in all, I can now safely rate this trainwreck a 2/10. Plus if you liked this because of nostalgia, keep in mind that nostalgia isn't always a good thing.
