Because with anime you have the original dialogue, but with mango you have to take the translatior's word for it.
Also it tends to be released in a completely different colourspace and dramatically lower resolution than the source, and the purveyors of such act like what they've done to it is a good thing.
I don't blame them honestly, I read it but scanalations are a nightmare constantly getting dropped or taking forever and a lot of times their only option.

It's not just ongoing shit unless you're including stuff that's finished and not translated. I also try to stick to stuff that is finished or gets consistent updates but I am not going to completely bind my hands like that because there is some good stuff that will not be translated for years probably.

A massive problem is they try to localise it A LOT. In usual shows that's fine but here it's not so great. Refferences to things that don't exist over here are replaced, the same with jokes etc a lot of it is down to localising.
Speaking of translations, when is my boy saiki gonna get some love? We like over 100 chapters behind japan and this shit is funnier than a lot of the garbagio in shonen jump
People do read manga. If you're wondering why you don't see as many threads it's mainly because most chapter releases don't have anything worth creating a thread for. I'm following more than a hundred series but I only regularly post about a few of them. Manga threads end up with fewer replies and 404 faster.

Also OP the reason old things don't get discussed is the same reason why old anime isn't. A good portion of its already been read and been discussed to hell and back. Outside of the generalfags, /a/nons don't feel the need to constantly talk about something, so they get threads on occasion, instead of constantly
