It's not, it's just I think spoilers werehe intentionally set her up as the prize for some fight so that he could get rid of her since it's generally seen that he's a weak Demon Lord and just sort of filling the role until she gets back to power. He thinks that if she marries the MC, she'll become a nice, quiet wife type instead of her violent, evil, wild self that he fears. The other girls when they found out were upset about it but then doubly upset when Elise went all "that doesn't sound so bad".

Honestly, I don't know anything about this work, but this doesn't really matter. What matters is whether the MC is fleshed out in a manner suited to the character that acts who acts as the audience's window to the story, and who events inherently revolve around just by the nature of his position. Whether you're dealing with a protagonist who's submissive, passive aggressive, or a manchild, the problem of not writing the centerpiece of the story to be a good character first and foremost is the big disease plaguing the genre.
