>you will never watch LOGH for the first time again
just kill me now
>tfw haven't watched it
Considering to pick it up as it has been on my backlog for quite some time.
What can I look forward to?
I didn't watched it yet
>>134746548
hard sci-fi
military tactics
awesome characters
intrigue
germans
death star(s)
space ships
classical music
>>134746508
I haven't. It's downloaded, been sitting there for over a year along with NGE. I keep telling myself to wait for the right moment; you can't watch a great anime like that half-asleep or distracted, can you?
Let's watch YuruYuri or Love Live! instead, something comfy~ We always have tomorrow right?
>You can never experience this moment for the first time ever again
>>134746638
indeed
just make sure you do watch it and don't procrastinate forever
>>134746662
Damn, that episode was excellent. I liked how they showed his death, it seemed so... simple.
Also, pic related was maybe even better for me.
>>134747297
Damn, forgot the picture.

Forgetting something?

>tfw I had both of these spoiled for me because I had fallen so far in love with this series that I couldn't resist going into LoGH threads on /a/
They both still devastated me.
All you have to do is suffer from memory loss.
There is no difference between not watching it before and watching it and not knowing it.
>>134747494
I can understand that. I also had the first one and the end of the series spoiled for me, but it didn't matter much, still throughly enjoyed the series. Luckily Reuntahl's fate wasn't spoiled.
It's been a few years since I saw it. I bet if I rewatched it now it would feel pretty new with some plot twists spoiled.
>>134746598
>military tactics
>>134747883
fuck you tripfag
why are you implying logh doesn't have military tactics?
>>134747332
This still fucks me up.
What's wrong with Tytania?
>>134747883
Tripfag moron.
>>134747967
I guess it technically did have them, but the portrayal of military tactics in LOGH was by far the weakest part of the show. LOGH shouldn't be watched for military tactics.
>>134748216
It's fucking garbo.

Welp
Time to devote a month of my life to this
Ive heard heaps about this classic but never watched it, for whatever reason

You're in for quite a ride, enjoy. Btw what torrent, the one on bakabt (44,5 gb)?
>>134746508

Nah its on nyaa
If I downloaded that from bakabt i'd be seeding for a year before they'd let me download again
>>134747297
It was weird that one of the main characters died to a single shot in the leg. Usually they just bandage it up and are good to go
>>134751283
>>134751275
You don't need to be logged in on bakabt to download. Just type the name of the anime in google and add bakabt. I think it will be the first or second result.
>>134751283
It hit the artery, he didn't have anything to stop the bleeding, except his scarf.
Great anime. I hate how it's gathered a following of pretentious manchilds and became a posterboy for snobbery however.
>>134751322
I have an account though
If you can just download without an acc why do they make such a big fuss over seeding?
>>134746508
Just read any other cheap military novel, they make hundreds of those each year.
>>134751492
Because you can't browse and use the in-site search engine without an account. I think I'll also register once, but at the moment I have more than 1,5 TB on my backlog, so I'm fine for the time being.
>>134751608
Ahhh
Anyway its already downloading
Rip bandwidth
>>134746508
Even as a huge elitist faggot I couldn't get into it. I like sci-fi, I like space, I should like it, but something's off about it.
>>134748289
Sadly LOGH is pretty much the only anime that comes to mind when discussing actual strategies used in real life. On the other hand, I have hard time imagining who would even want to watch an anime based only on such a specific detail as military strategies.
>>134747494
The commentator was spoiling shit left and right anyways.
>>134751771
Fuck, I would watch it. And probably enjoy it. I think most people that know anything about history and/or military strategies would enjoy it.
>>134751675
Well, it's bandwidth well spent, so there is no problem.
Finished this show yesterday.
It was amazing.
Are the other OVAs/movies nearly as good? I've been putting off watching them, even though I loved the main series.
>>134751160
Downloaded a copy that was less than 10GB. Compared it with that version and I swear the difference, though it was there, was hardly noticeable.
>>134746662
>mfw the next episode preview spoiled it for me
What the fuck were they thinking? It was an OVA too, did they really think someone couldn't wait for a few minutes to watch the next episode?
>>134747332
Atleast based Reuental got to kill Trunith.
>>134752813
I was hoping he would have been ass raped to death
>>134746508
Im saving it to watch it with my freind in summer, along witha few other shows
>>134752788
If you got that far in and still watched the previews, you're a dumb dumb. Those damn things spoiled EVERYTHING for the following episodes, should any real plot heavy action or drama happen.
Shit, they do it right up until the finale.
>>134752813
Yeah, I enjoyed that moment. And I also enjoyed pic related.
Am i the only one who just didn't care for Reinhard that much until that episode where the assassin made him face his conscience about thenuke/genocide.
He was so cute after hefucked Hilda and went to propose.
Not that i didn't think he was a great and charismatic character before, but until then i cared more about Wolfe, Lutz, Reuenthal, and even Mecklinger, oh and not to mention Kircheis.
On the other hand i loved Yang from episode one, and overall liked the whole crew more, from Poplan to old man Bucock.
>>134747967
Not the guy you're talking to but in my experience most people criticising the tactics have absolutely no idea what they're talking about since they're arguing from a position of utter ignorance and are merely regurgitating memes. LOGH doesn't give the viewer a lot of information about its weaponry and its constraints which is one of the primary factors in deciding whether a certain tactic makes sense or not. One can argue whether things are "believable" but discussing fictional tactics within a system that is mostly composed of unknowns is almost complete guesswork and most criticism of the show in that regard boils down to "I don't like space ships being immobile rather than going whooow-pew-pew all the time".
>>134753610
>On the other hand i loved Yang from episode one, and overall liked the whole crew more, from Poplan to old man Bucock.
Me too.
This was such a powerful moment...
>>134746508
Maybe not, but soon I will read it for the first time ever.
>>134753610
I cared for Reinhard from the start, more or less. He and Yang were my favorites, closely followed by Reuntahl and Mittermeyer (I really liked the dynamic and relationship between those two) and I also liked Oberstein when he would come and make everyone question their beliefs.
I liked the Imperial side more than the Republican, even though I really liked the crew in Yang's fleet.
Also, blushing Reinhard was excellent.
>>134752625
The animation feels cheaper and downgraded thanks to the new techniques they used, but they're great to fill the void after finishing the main series.
>>134754580
Do you have to watch the 2 OVAs in order or can you watch either one first.
I know the 2nd one is about Yang.
>ywn read KnJ for the first time again
I must find something equally as loving.
>>134754788
I just followed the viewing chart, and the torrent I got laid it all out in order.
Kircheis dyinghit me hard even though I've been spoiled about it for years simply from browsing /jp/.I knew he was going to die but never imagined he'd go so quickly.
>>134756694
Same situation but for me it wasYang's
>>134753775

That's the thing. You can't appreciate the use of military tactics if you don't understand the basic reasoning behind them. It just comes off as completely random and arbitrary. It's like trying to enjoy watching a game of chess while not even knowing the basic rules of chess and how each figure moves.
Sure, if we had more knowledge of technological limitations and military doctrines of the LOGH universe, we might be able to understand why various commanders did what they did. But since we don't, it comes off as completely random. It's not about whether the military tactics they use make sense in the context of the show, it's whether we the viewers can appreciate the military tactics used.

>>134746508
Obi Wan Kenobi?
>>134751771
You forgot DATABASE DATABASE.
>>134757874
They still use strategies that make sense in that universe and in those circumstances, for example, the scorched earth strategy that Reinhard used when the FPA invaded, the place that Bucock decided to use for his last stand, etc.
>>134757874
m8 its literally all Napoleonic warfare tactics with spaceships. Its pretty obvious when most of the battles go like this.
>1. Preliminary bombardment in organized ranks
>2. either pull back to overextend enemy formation or concentrate forces on a single point to break through
>3. Repeat 2 a few times if its a hard fight
>4. Encirclement happens
>5. SIEUG KAISER REINHARDO
>>134760074
How Yang could just slip right into the Imperial fleet and checkmate Reinhard with a single ship was pretty weird. And how that actually happens semi-frequently.
>>134750072
We saw him for like 109 episodes.
>tfw this scene happens and you go into it unspoiled with no fucking clue about it to come
I seriously lost it, I just couldn't comprehend what the hell I'd just seen and had to pause the episode regain my senses.
I mean, bazooka in a corpse was one thing, but then the laser hidden in the ring capable of slicing through flesh and Kircheis just bleeding out. It was like an emotional 720 degree 4 dimensional Dempsey Roll to the brain.
