The first half of the series was a massive change in tone, it wasn't bad per se, but was so different from Zeta.

His rise to a command position makes sense, he isn't a grunt one day and then suddenly the commander of a vessel. It's not noticable when you watch it the first time because the first half of ZZ is total trash, but he's basically being groomed and gets more power on the Endra past his initial sortie. Mashmyre gives him orders directly, he can order the ship to stop with no reprimands for disobeying a superior officer(Chara), he has his own private cabin for training imoutos and in the second Moon Moon episode Glemy is being transferred on a shuttle/satelite/whatever and comes back to the Endra when radioed to save Leina. So he's moving to another vessel, to take command and is no longer part of the Endra's crew
