I watched it when I was 12 so I didn't care. I just liked that it was a direct sequel which was neat. I liked the characters for the most part.

It's strange we see the scenes and literally no character mentions Daisuke, Inoue, Ken, or Iori.
It's increasingly odd that Takeru and Hikari say nothing since they were main members of the 02 group and spent an entire adventure with those characters.
If Digimon were back, you'd think they'd try and get together every chosen in their area, they sure try to get Joe back constantly even though he's busy but there isn't a single mention of Daisuke, Inoue, Ken, or Iori.
Most likely they already know a reason why they aren't there but it's not said and it's left us the viewers wondering why we see these characters essentially killed and not even referenced for 2 hours.

Digimon Adventure is a genuinely good series, as in its very easy to love the fuck out of it without any nostalgia whatsoever.
02 on the other hand is fucking awful. Plot holes galore, all the new characters are bland and terrible, story arcs dropped out of nowhere left and right etc. The quality drop between the first series and the second is seriously unbelievable.

Part of the ending is already retconned. 02 ended with the everyone in the world having a Digimon partner and the Digitalworld being open to all. Now it's back to the Digimon being separated from the main cast over long periods of time.
