Director fucked Ruru's character. If something like Haku fighting Oshutoru happened in the game Ruru would be really worried about Haku and rushed over to his side when he fell down. She would likely be very, very distraught about it. The anime is down playing how much she loves him.

I understand that he needs to slowly meet everyone, learn the language and somewhat become known enough to be trusted with information or jobs for higher ranking people. But fuck is it slow. Was the VN this slow as well? I understand it's not full scale war like the first but the plot is meandering and I'd rather have time devoted to that meeting with the weird old guy (that hasn't come back to relevance yet), the different magics, how the winged assholes meddle in this country and general stuff about exploring the mountain he was found at. Or hell more shit from the former cast because they are poking around and have been for a few years (randomly establishing a tavern some years before Kuon gets there).
