It had good atmosphere, maintained a consistent creepy, eerie, cutesy tone, and the music fit well. One of the best examples of this is when they go on their camping trip, and it's supposedly a normal outing for the girls, and the music has this upbeat melody, but also gives off an eerie feel to it like something is really wrong here, but nothing happens. This tone is maintained throughout the OVAs, and I can appreciate that.
Outside of that, it's not much. It seems to me to be a metaphor of growing up and going through puberty and how "alien" it all is, so I guess there's that if you're looking for some substance.

Ok, so I guess it all depends on the taste. But I found terribly inconsistent, with events happening, nothing explained, a hero that CONSTANTLY crying (and sometimes for nothing at all), a false air of Eva. In fact, I only "enjoyed" the first episode because it was unsettling. But after that, it was just boring.

I only mean that forcing a rape allegory on 12-year-old kids is really pushing it. I can understand the father loss and the more-than-ambiguous relationship between siblings but this is just shock value. Most rapists are aged 20-30 according the studies, and boys aged 12 are more interested in doing sports, having fun, and acting like idiots towards women rather than raping them.

The violation of the body horror in it has similarities to rape, but I think trying to make sense of it as a rape allegory is twisting it to be something it's not.
And if it was written as one, it would seem weird to me that the mangaka has made an ero doujinshi with Kasumi getting raped her dad after he caught her being eaten out by Kumi.
