It bombed in Japan, but was fairly popular in overseas streaming. There are 5 LNs so far, 4 have been translated and the anime covered all of the first volume. If you like it you should consider by Ponycan's overpriced BD release, it comes with some key frames and OST.My vol.1 actually came in the mail today.

Also, the story was so weak, that they had to rely on fucking cliffhangers for each fucking episode. You know that the creators dont believe in the show when they do that. It's extremely annoying to have the climax build up -> episode ends -> Start of next episode, climax, but then it turned out, it didnt matter anyways. And lastly, the fucking CGI monsters. Literally the thing that could've been the coolest of all, rabid sakuga-monsters gets turned into shitty CGI monsters, copy-pasted, and put little to none effort into.
Seriously, this anime was nothing but trash, no character.

I was all set to pick this up, but didn't find out about the standard release being cancelled until the 10th when it was supposed be released and found only the overpriced limited edition on Right Stuff. It is also bothersome that Ponycan's site still lists the regular release as released when it was apparently cancelled per Right Stuff.

I honestly can't imagine it selling out any time soon because it is, as you said, overpriced. I would have waited to buy it, but I liked the bonuses too much to pass on them, though I don't really like the idea of the dodeka case and the slipcover sounds like it'll be useless. It also helps that there's currently no other series I'm interested in buying.

Tiger and Bunny was the last anime I've watched before this, so in comparison the animation was excellent. It boggles my mind what 2016 anime will look like. I usually just read manga, as it's easier to pick up and put down when I have to go to work and stuff.

There is plenty of LN to read, the anime only covered the first volume. It's worth checking out, but it seems to be declining.
Vol2 is better than the first one, Vol3 is worse, and Vol4 is just bad.
