I could understand some people preferring 2006 over UBW 2015, to be honest. The cast were just as underdeveloped in many ways, and the Kenji Kawai soundtrack was fucking Elder God-tier.

Fukasawa's album version of Emiya though is just a suite. There were four renditions used in the actual show. What you're hearing is the cue from episode 24, the main one against Gil, and the cue from episode 21, where Shirou does his final run up against Archer. There are still two missing.
And I didn't even mention the 2014 OST in my post, I just cannot get why people think the DEEN soundtrack is some masterpiece. Watch its use in the show again, or if that takes up too much time, sit down and listen to the entirety of its albums. Barring a few tracks it does not stand out.

I don't dig it cause it fucks up the beginning of the melody, and the piano line is too muddled throughout. It gets overpowered by the other electronics and percussion. It's even worse on the movie OST.

That's pretty neat from a technical standpoint, but that doesn't make the OST good whatsoever. Despite each scene being individually scored, it rarely enhanced any of those, and worse, often acted as a distraction.

And I don't know, regardless, I thought it was a very well done score on a technical level. It had a wealth of motifs, more-so than anything Kawai or Kajiura provided, and while the VN music wasn't evenly distributed, that was obviously intentional. They saved it for the finale, and Fukasawa used more VN tracks than any composer before him.

UBW's OST is an improvement over Zero's.
Zero abused the shit out of Kalafina's chanting and they went with a low-risk pre-made tracks approach like 90% of anime.
Overall, it feels gimicky and loses it's charm as the series progresses.
UBW's OST, on the other hand used tailor made pieces that fit the mood of each scene perfectly. The amount of detail and technical effort put into it was unheard of in TV animation, and it was the adaptation that used the most music from the VN.

I'd go with this one for the second season. 1:45 is great and 4:00 is maybe the only moment I really felt something in a scene. Overall OST is good though but ain't "powerful".
Come to think of it, the OST during Berserker Vs Gil was on point too. Really fits the characters.

It's Archer's theme. When you first hear it, it's cocky and cool. It's got guitar in it, and it epitomizes just about what your first impression of the character is.
As the story moves on though, you learn there's a lot more to him. A lot of emotion under that cool demeanor, so his music becomes heavier to fit that.
